In case you didn't read my other blog that started this story, I am staying in the Samsara Resort hotel because a friend of mine arranged with her friend for me to be there. Her friend, is very close with the owner and have known each other all their lives. Upon arriving the first day I tried to pay but they said it was taken care of. Now it is the second day and after I woke up I went down to the lobby where there is an area for breakfast. It was a full breakfast with lots of choices. It is included with the room. I had pancakes, sausage, potatoes, ham, cereal, toast, juice and coffee. I went about my day and stayed there the second night too. The following morning I came down for breakfast and an older gentleman was waiting on the guests at the breakfast tables. I asked him if he was the owner and he said he was. I introduced myself and thanked him for his hospitality! He knew who I was and even referred to which room I was in. He asked if I would be staying there until I left Nepal in 2 more days. I said I was planning on it and he asked if it would be alright to move me to a hotel across the street for the last day. It belongs to a friend of his and he has all his rooms reserved for that day. Of course, I told him that was no problem. He asked if I had a tour guild taking me around and offered me one of his people and their car. I told him Sos was taking me around and doing a good job so thank you anyway. The next morning I went down to breakfast and I was feeling guilty. This is the 3rd night and 3rd breakfast and I felt like I needed to pay this man for part of my stay! He is going to move me tonight to the place across the street so he walked me over there to introduce me. The people behind the counter spoke with him in their language then smiled at me and then he said lets go. I thought he had arranged for me to stay there free! On the walk back I told him I don't want to take advantage of his overwhelmingly generous hosting and would like to pay something towards my bill. I told him I would write good things in my travel blogs and help to advertise his establishment. We even got our picture taken together in front of the building. When we reached the front desk he asked if I had a credit card. I pulled it out then he spoke to the girl behind the counter, she wrote up the bill and handed it to me. It said 24000 rupees and my mind was thinking that was $24. The owner quickly said the total included the hotel across the street as well. So, then I thought, he wasn't charging me but I was paying for the hotel across the street. Since $20-$25 a night is standard, I smiled and signed it. Then I went to an internet place where Sos was checking her email and showed her the bill. She said it was $240 not $24! I could not believe it! This is for 3 nights at Samsara and one night at the other hotel. It should not have been over $100. That is if I paid in full for everything! He took me to the cleaners! I went back and complained to him but he just made excuses saying that it is cheaper booking on the internet and then he slipped and said he had to give other people money for bringing me there, etc... So Sos and her friend King, got a cut of that money. I was so upset that he was defending the bill that I told him I was going to put the truth out there and I am sorry the story would not make him shine.
