Hiking to Annapurna Base Camp (ABC) and up to Poon Hill
(further story and photos to follow...)

I first hiked to ABC in 1989 so was curious and somewhat fearful to see what changes had happened over the years. This year I met an older Swiss couple (in their late 70s) in Lhasa and he had been back in that area over 15 times...he told me to go back because it was even "better now...you can see the mountain sunset and sunrise in the warmth and comfort of a hut...no more shivering and cold agony", he said.

Well, I started my sabbatical July 1, 2007 and I have a year to refresh myself, explore the world...and analyse data, submit some publications, and present at conferences ! I wish I could send you personal emails to keep in touch but I just don't have the time nor inclination to huddle over a computer in a dark internet cafe corner when the exciting world outside is beckoning me to explore, play and adventure !
