Before we leave the hotel today, we booked up our trip to the elephant sanctuary and Batu caves for tomorrow. We also booked our hotel transfers to the airport for Tuesday.
Today we have prepaid tickets to go up the Petronas Twin Towers. These are now the highest twin towers in the world.
Kuala Lumpur runs a large free bus service that was originally designed for workers, but is now advertised for all to use. It was put in place to try to keep traffic congestion to a lower level, but it does not appear to be doing that.
One of these free buses stops is just around the corner from our hotel, and then just around the corner from the twin towers. We thought it would be an ideal opportunity to try out their buses. The journey there took about 30 minutes and we had a seat all the way.
Before entering the first lift to get up the towers there was a hologram of a lady suspended in mid-air who gave a brief talk of the safety instructions for our visit. Then with a puff of smoke she was gone.
First we took the
lift to floor 41 so that we could walk across the sky bridge that connects the two towers. This is the world´s tallest double decker bridge.
From here, we got another lift to floor 81 and onwards up to floor 86 which houses the observation rooms where you can look out over most of Kuala Lumpur.
They had a television screen that you could use the codes on your entry tickets to create an image of the twin the structure onto a television. We had much fun taking selfie photos with this.
Once we were back to the base of the towers, we were going to have a look around the shops there, but decided against it. They were all very high end designer. Not our cup of tea and a complete waste of money in our view.
So it was back to the bus stop for the free bus back to our hotel.
When we were on the hop on buses earlier in the week, we were always on the lookout for a restaurant that we may be able to use one of our entertainer vouchers in. Today we had another look and have
narrowed it down to a choice of two. TGI Fridays or Healy Macs. Think TGI may be our place to visit tonight. We fancy something different from the local hawker places and would like a proper restaurant and maybe some western food for a change.
Decided on TGI Fridays in the end, so took the free bus back to Bukit Bintang where we had earlier seen the restaurant.
We were a little worried, as in the UK and USA TGI Friday´s portions are far too large for us. We were pleasantly surprised that the portion sizes here were just right.
We had a lovely meal, so much so, we may return another night. Using the Entertainer voucher the bill came to just 88.20 ringgits (about £13) for drinks and food.
Then it was back on the free bus for the journey home. It all looked a lot different in the dark and we nearly missed our stop.
