Hi everyone, We haven't updated in a while so we've got lots of pictures this time. When we last updated we were in Georgetown. We traveled by coach to Kuala Lumpur which was the most comfortable journey we have had yet. On the first night we headed out to see the most popular sight of the city which is the Petronas towers. They were amazing to see at night all lit up, they almost didn't seem real.

The next day we went to the central market as Steph wanted to find some presents for her family (ate pancakes) and we posted our mothers day letters at the central sorting office. We then walked on to the main park in KL and went into the planetarium (it was free) and then walked past the worlds largest walk in free flight aviary and saw some escapees and lots of monkeys.

The next day just me and charlie went up the KL tower as Steph didn't want to pay to go up another tower! The tower is 421.5 metres high and gives a great view of the Petronas towers. As part of the ticket we also had entry to the Animal Zone. It was full of hideous bald albino rats and monkeys with big bums...

Yesterday we walked around the old historic part of KL which was factually fulfilling and full of old people. Steph really enjoyed taking pictures all the old buildings and there was a free museum with more factual goodness about the history of KL.

Today we trekked over to the Zoo Negara (which is malaysias national zoo) on the local bus system. We expected it to be unrealiable but it was actually better that buses in England and for only 50p!. The Zoo was choc-a-bloc with deer.*

We have been eating dinner alot at a diner at the end of our road. The Pomodoro is spectacularly good value for money...

Tomorrow we are going to stop of in Melaka which is just south of Kuala Lumpur for 2 nights before we go to Singapore. This will only cost us 1.80 pounds. We are all now looking forward to Australia and being able to drive ourselves around!!

Next update (probably) in Singapore.

See you then!

*Other animals were available. We could get really close to the elephants and caught glimpses of tigers, and lions!

Busy busy
Hi guys... Good to hear from you and see the latest pics. THe rats and monkeys sound hideous...even the elephants look a bit weary. We want beautiful birds and butterflies please. Maybe Australia will provide some! Mat, didn't realise you were so mindful of the cash flow... That's good. We are looking forward to your next adventure as you step across to cairns, how exciting! Please look after yourselves and each other... Charlie, thanks for the mothers day message! Xxxx

Towers and elephants
It seems you trusted the structural engineers calculations going up the KL Tower!! 100m taller than the one I did. You seemed to have been let very close to the elephants, maybe only the young one. Everyone did Ready steady cook here on Saturday - I have been trying some different foods as well as yourself. Have a lovely time in Singapore - Brian Amesbury tells me it is a very different place to Kuala Lumpur as he also went to both one after the other. love Dad

We can see you...
... in the picture of the space suit. Which, incidentally was worn by the first Malaysian in space, Dr. Sheikh Muszaphar, who went up in a Soyuz about five years ago (and came back again, evidently!). Thanks, Steph, for calling your mum. We tried to call you back, but could only get your voicemail. Mind the crocodilians (are you becoming Gharial-obsessive - concerned relatives are asking!), and DON'T BE LATE to Singapore! Love from here. Dad & Her-with-the-iPad!

taller than the Rockefeller Centre?
another great addition to your conquest of the worlds tallest buildings! Good pics, although I'd like more with you guys featured in them, perhaps Steph actually riding a tiger, Matt on a tight rope between the towers or Charlie eating some monkey brain, that kind of thing... at any rate it sounds like you're having more fun than poor old Nat sat here revising for his GCSEs. What I want to know is, is all the equipment useful? Did all the research into appropriate clothing, money belts, water purifiers and general over-the-top travel must-haves pay off, or have you ditched it all and gone native?! I met Lance on Sunday, a student from Singapore, he said he came from a church of 20,000 members that met in a shopping centre in the city centre! Important sports news - rare victory for whites on Saturday morning, stunning volley from big Nige! Love Dad Love Dad

Volley
All the stuff we bought has been useful so far, the shirts, journals, torches, shoes, sleepingbags and liner, I've worn the moneybelt every day but I havnt worn the coat yet! Thanks for the food money aswell. Did you see the kelvinator? Wish I had been there to witness the volley, I can just imagine it in my head! I can't wait to play again on a Saturday. Sinvapore tomorrow then Australia!

Knives
Super to have your comparisons of monitors and gharials from the zoo. Incidently the head of the gharials was a better one than any I found on the net. At university I had a friend who was Malay as apposed to Chinese. He used to complain that the Chinese had taken over his country. He carried an enormous knife permanently in a sheath on his belt. He sharpened it regularly and used it to sharpen pencils. Apparently all true Malays used to carry one - I wonder if this is so today?!! Grandma agrees that their are no birds and butterflies!!
