Had good weather for the 4 days we've been in KL. not too hot & only a few late showers. The hotel, Mandarin Court is average but in a great location 5 mins walk to Chinatown & 2 mins to monorail It costs 1ringitt 60sen to Bukit Bintang which is one of the many large shopping centres here. Chinatown is good if you don't mind haggling & you can get some good bargains but get there early to avoid the crush.There are plenry of eateries there but we opted for The Ship which is at Bukit Bintang, go right as you exit the monorail & at the bottom of the stairs you'll see Macdonalds across the road, look to the left & see a sign, "the best steaks in town" & they are & very good value. Another good place is a chinese restaurant called Hakkas. It's been in the same family since 1956 & has good views of Petronas Towers when the sliding roof is open. The food is really nice & the staff are friendly. To get there get the monorail to Raja Chulan, exit right & walk to the main intersection with Jalan Sultan Ishmail, turn left & keep walking till you see the blue sign of Hakka about 3 mins away. A good way to get to know central KL is the hop on hop off bus which costs 38 ringitt & lasts 24 hours & you can get on & off as many times as you like. It covers all the main areas in the city, 22 stops in all & there is a commentary. We just sat for the whole trip which lasted about 3 hours acording to traffic volume. It was very good value & a lot of people were hopping on & off at the various places of interest. Its a double decker bus with a clear viewing area on top. We got on at Bukit Bintang but there are well signed bus stops around where you can get a ticket or purchase on the bus. The hotels can tell you where the closest stop is. Tomorrow we leave this hotel to go nearer the airport as we have an early flight on Monday. will update on that one.
