Kuala Lumpur
A picture of a tower taken from the top of another tower! After a few days relaxing in Singapore we caught the bus to Melacca in Malaysia. Melacca was very hot and we felt we only needed a day there to see the sights, we spent the morning visiting some of the old Portuguese and Dutch buildings, followed by a few very interesting hours exploring Chinatown. From Melacca we caught a bus to the manic city of Kuala Lumpur. We both really enjoyed staying in the heart of the city, our hotel was in Chinatown in the middle of a bustling day and night market, where you can buy any kind of fake item your heart desires (including cheap dvds!) and many it doesn't! Our only dissapointment in Kuala Lumpur was that we couldn't watch the sun setting over the city, we didn't realise that you could only visit the Petronas Towers with before 5.30pm with a ticket you must collect at 7.30am!
From Kuala Lumpur we took a trip into the Taman Negara rainforest. this involved a lazy few hours boating up the river. We spent 3 days looking for animals and walking a little, we also managed to visit a local tribe, ride some rapids and climb some very high,
and not so sturdy rope bridges in the tree canopy. After our three day adventure the tour company took us on a six hour drive to the dock for boats leaving for the Perhentian Islands, which was all very handy!
The Perentian Islands where beautiful, we stayed on the larger on the two, and spent a couple of days chilling out on the beach and doing loads of snorkelling.
We have taken some great pictures of Malaysia, many of which we will put on this blog (time and technology permitting!)
