On Wed night Julie and I did the late night turtle watch from 1am-5am which was a test of endurance! It was OK as we were playing Uno, but around 3am we were both falling asleep at the table - every now and again one of us would say to the other 'It's your turn'! We were a bit spooked patrolling the beach in the darkness, the beach lit up every so often by flashes of lightening from the distance. We were speed walking by the end of it! No sign of the turtles either hatching (which are due any day now!!) or any mommas coming up from the sea.

Got to bed at 5 only to find the BIGGEST spider i've ever seen (called Strider) right next to the lightswitch! I nearly touched it argh! Had to turn the light off then literally jump under my mosquito net. Actually getting used to the animals like the geckos, spiders rats (outside ones anyway) etc - as long as I can see where they are!

1st day of freedom yesterday! Back to sunbathing and snorkelling today after a few hard days' studying! (Well, not that hard) However we did go

I'm not that sweaty honest!
on a jungle trek in the afternoon which was so hot and and so steep! On the pics it looks like I'm sweating much more than the others but actually I was just wearing a wet bikini underneath. HONEST!

Then we went snorkelling... and spotted my first turtle!! Was getting a bit worried as the other groups had seen them on their diving trips, but it was a big one! Got to take my camera out next time.

Today is a relaxing day, going to try and find turtles - any suggestions for a nickname for him?! Tomorrow we're off skin diving, which is where you snorkel, then dive deeper while holding your breath. We're collecting drupella - which has no known predators and damages the coral. Then on Sun we're off to Long Beach on the neighbouring island for a few drinks and bit of a party!

Right I'm off to snorkel! -E
