Accommodation at cameron - fathers place / guest house. The converted tin sheds on the left was our rooms Cameron Highlands 15th & 16th March 2008
We wanted to catch the early bus to the cameron highlands so up early. Said our fairwells to Steph. Steph was meeting a friend in thailand, otherwise she would have loved to come along with us. However there is a chance we may meet in a few weeks when I too am in thailand.
Anyway, Lorna and I got the mono-rail into the city then had a 10-15 minute walk to the bus station. This wasn't a pleasant experience in the humidity and heat of KL - i soon looked like a drown rat ready to have yet another heart attack. Eventually we arrived at the station and we were advised to walk back down the street about 200mtrs to where the meeting point was.
We didn't have a clue where he was referring to. After i had nipped into the chemist to purchased some malaria tablets (which were only 3 pounds compared with 70 pounds in the UK) we wondered around like 2 lost children until someone pointed us in the direction of the bus which was tucked away round the back hidden away.
I think it took about

small afteroon walk at cameron highlands - as good as it got. A less than impressive dirty waterfall 4 hours to get to the cameron highlands - we were staying at fathers place in tanah rata. A small mini bus was there to collect us from the station and take us to the guest house. Some Ozi guy from Townsville got on the mini bus too - we was a right wierdo (probably some kind of serial killer on the lose!). During our time in Cameron he kept popping up in random places and it could have been suspected of stalking us lol. Ive not seen him since cameron so fingers crossed he probably still hiding in the jungle somewhere or been eaten by a tiger (just messing i'm sure he was okay...i guess)
The accomodation was very very very basic. To be honest the rooms were tin metal coal sheds converted and partitioned into rooms. Well at least i had a bed for the next few nights - even though the beds were really hard and the covers stunk of urine!!!!
The afternoon we arrived we went for quick walk - Lorna ws very keen to get out there in the jungle and explore - i agreed to go even though a nice chilled out

View of town from top of a what looked like an old world war 2 lookout tower.....very impressive...hmmmmmm NOT! afternoon i would have preferred. Before the walk Lorna had a bit of a moan and a mard head on as she was hungry and wanted some food, some fruit or was it scones!!! So before the walk we had to piss around looking for a suitable shop / cafe to satisfy her needs. As it turns out the walk in the end (which was a fairly short walk) was pretty ordinary (crap!). There was a river and a water fall but the water was dirty andthere was litter in the water and on the banks. We come across a big millipede which too me was the highlight of the walk - Lorna wasnt too impressed with the insect and was urging us too move on....okay lets all do the things you want to do lol (only joking Lorna if you read this!). We walked up this steep hill land steps to get to a look out point, i was quite optumistic this wasing going to be worth the effort. We came across a look out tower, similar to the ones you seen in was movies - so we climbed up the tower and stood in awe at the views...not!

At start of our big walk / hike - small village we come across The view was okay i guess!
That night we went into the town for some dinner and come across this indian street cafe that had some tandorri chickens been cooked in like a clay oven - they looked so good, so we though we'd give them a go. With the chicken you got a naan (i had butter naan), rice dish, chickpea dish, and lots of salad and dipping sauces. WOW! it was so tasty and it was swilled down nicely with a cold tiger beer.
Got back to the hostel and i felt like simply putting my feet up and chilling out in front of big tv they had. I watched end of pirates of carribean and all of the beach and enjoyed another beer or 2. That night Liver pool were playing Reading and England were playing Ireland in the 6 nations rugby. Lorna been a big rugby fan and been from Dublin we decided to stay up and watch the rugby game along with a couple of guys (1 from england and the other from Sweden). England hammered Ireland and Liverpool won Reading - so it was a good way to end the day before

OOOOOOOOORRRRRRRRRAAAAHHHHHHH (tarzan call). Strangely enough no animals responded to my call! hitting the sack that smells of P.
Next day we were doing a much longer walk and also going to a tea plantation. It going to be a long demanding day. The walk to the top of Kunung Barichang was great fun and was pretty demanding at times as it was very steep in places & involved actually climbing up tree roots, mud banks, rocks and getting really dirty! After the efforts to get to the top i was expecting something pretty spectacular and great views but unfortuneately I didnt get it. They were nice i guess, nothing more!
From there, Lorna advised we apparently we had a short walk back down to the tea plantation. After walking 1 hour and not seeing a tea plantation in sight i was really starting to doubt the truth in this 'short walk' bit of her statement. Luckily a random car stopped and asked where we were going and if we wanted a life. It was a young malaysian couple and they were here on a small vacation, they were really friendly and sweet and of course we accepted their offer. The tea plantation must have been at least another 6

Dressed appropiately in my finest hiking gear! kms so i was so glad we got the lift. The ride through the trea plantation, the scenery and all the shades of green were really lovley. There was a cafe on stilts over looking the Plantation so we headed there for some lunch. I was really hungry and didnt know what to get so i think i ordered a bit of everything. I had a mushroom soup, a sandwich, scones and jam, pot of tea. The food was great and the tea....well what can i say it was unbelievable!
There was a museum on the history of tea making and the plantation and also there was a walk through tour of the factory where you can watch the people working an making tea. This was fairly good - not usually my kind of thing but i kind of enjoyed it. Lorna was reading everything word for word so where i quickly brushde over it all anbd then went out to chill out in the sun and to get heckled by lots of malaysians and chinese wanting me to take there pictures.
It was time to leave and both Lorna and I was hoping we would bump into

View from the top of whereever we were at the top of the couple that had given us a life here so we could ask them for a lift back. No joy! So we started walking, the long wallk back. it must be at least 10km back! We had done probably about 3km and we were on the main road so we decided to try and wave a car down. it didnt take long and again a young malaysian couple pulled over and offered to give us a life back into town. Again they were such a lovely couple. The girl was from KL but had studied in england Leicster.
Back at the hostel, i was looking forward to put my weary feet up and watch the movie I had requested (Rambo IV). Lorna went into town for a massage and some dinner. The movie was awesome but there was an american guy sat at the back of the room talking loudly to an english guy about bird watching in the taman Nagara - luckily he eventually shut up, i think he got the message when some guy turned the volume out to drown is irritating voice and totally boring conversation.
After the movie i thought id go and try

Arrrgghhhh that was the name of where we were "Gunung Berinchang" and find Lorna is the town and see if she has eaten. I Couldn't find her so I went for another of the tandorri chickens i had the previous day. Went back, fell asleep in the sofa, snoring my head off apparently, so when i woke i went straight to bed.
