It was June 2003 and the mid year itch to travel was very strong indeed. Me my friends just bought for ourselves some big cc bikes and we thought why not take a ride up to KL from Singapore which is about 380km and if we had some strength left then on to Cameron Highlands.
On 12/7/2003 at about 0700hrs me and my 4 friends set out from anwardin house to Tuas Immigaration checkpoint. We cleared immigration at about 0830am and we had our breakfast in the first pit stop at Johor Bahru Second Link. Second Link is also called the north-south highway as it is malaysia's mordern highway running from Singapore all the way to Perlis State which is near south thailand.
After a heavy breakfast and stoking up on cheap cigarattes we set out to KL. Oh I forgot to introduce my friends and their bikes. Listed Below is my friends name and the bike they were riding.
Darwis - Honda Super 4
Syafie - Honda Super 4
Ishak - Honda Super 4
Anwardin - Suzuki GSXR 400
Myself - Yamaha Fazer 600
As we were all camped up at anwar's house before the trip
Refuel
All Of us at petronas refueling our bikes and due to the exitment, all of didn't catch enough sleep. I must say that adrelin was driving our trip. The second link is a superp highway, not quite like the auto bahn of germany as the top speed limit is set at 110km/h. We however tested our machines once in a while up to 160 to 200km/h. Hope Malaysian highway patrol is not reading this blog.
Both sides of the highway is full of palm plantations. Malaysia is a top palm oil producer and and we could see why with millions of palm trees around. All of us kept to a formation with darwis being teh front rider and me the last one. darwis will set the speed and i will determine the which lane of the highway.
I dont think any one of us will ever forget this trip as each one of us felt like a free bird trying to catch the mountains infront of us. The sight of us going in a convoy was a sight to behold and some cars passing by us would give us the occasional thumps up. That really lifted our sprits up.
We reached the outskirts of KL
Highway
By the side of north-south highway after about 5 hrs of riding and making about 3 stops to recharge ourselves. The Highway got so jammed with cars near KL and it took us about 2 hours just to clear the jam and get to our Hotel at Jalam Bukit Bintang. We booked into hotel nova and we covered our precious bikes and washed up. All of us decided to have body massage to relieve our body ache, so we flaged a taxi and told teh driver to bring us to a massage parlour. The chicky driver brought us to KL chinatown and it happened to be a "extra service" massage parlour meaning the girls are there to give you abit of massage but lots of sexual service. We decided we didn't want to be naughty even though it was tempting looking at those girls. We got back down and told the driver we wanted a no nonsence massage parlour and we told him the driver he will get extra tip if he brought us to a good one and boy was his recommendation good.
The place is called THE SPA and is located at 3A Floor, Wisma MPL Jalan Raja Chulan. Its a damn good spa. We were treated like a royalty. Its got a huge Hot sauna where we just lyed down and after that we had oil massage by experienced ladies. You can hear all the bones on your body craking. It was painfull but you feel very light after that and the massage lasted 45mins and it was sooo good.
After our massage, we went to the rest area where we had our refreshments, It was all you can eat and they give fresh fruit juice. My fren Ishak i think had about 12 glasses, Big Guy. They even have broadband Internet service, all included for just RM98 ringgit, very cheap and first class service.
WE ended up untill 11pm at the Spa. All refreshed, we wanted to check out the famous nite scene of KL which is at P Ramlee. We danced away till about 4 30 am and we were really exhausted and returned to our hotel for some sleep.
We woke up the next day at about 1 pm and after having lunch, decided to visit some of the shopping centres in KL. Realizing that prices in KL shopping centres and singapore were quite close, we went to pertaling street, a shoppers paradize, you can have branded look alikes for a fraction of its price. After spending all our money at pertaling but very happy with what we got, we got back to our hotel to have dinner and we were decided against riding to cameroon highlands which was about 200km north of KL. we were just too tired from all the sightseeing of KL on foot.
The next day i woke up with slight asthma, due to all the excessive smoking for the past two days. Went to the pharmacy and bought a ventolin puff and felt better. Iwas really worried about riding back to singapore a but my fear's disappeared once i sat on my bike and started the engine, I felt like a bird again. We set out from our hotel at about 12 pm and after getting lost abot in the maze of KL, we finally got into the highway back to Singapore.
