At the confluence of the Mekong and Nam Khan rivers, you will find the sleepy little town of Luang Prabang. This is a very walkable and peaceful city with amazing opportunities to enjoy local Laos cuisine and just take it easy for several days. The city comes alive each evening between 6 and 10 pm with street markets popping up every where. Amazingly, they will all be taken down before 11pm. In fact, our guest house locks its front doors as soon as the last guest checks in. From our experience this is usually prior to 10:30 pm. The Laos peole simply do not run the all night party that is found in Thailand.
Here are a few photos of us walking around Luang Prabang in the day time and climbing to the top of a hill located in the heart of the town within the grounds of a Buddhist Wat.
