The hotel offers shuttle service to the train station. The train experience in Japan (subway and railway) are nothing like NYC. It is clean, on time, and people are very helpful. I love you NYC!!! The Meiji temple (not to be confused with shrine) was the first of many I visited. You can get away without seeing that one if you had other things to do or rushed with time. What you can't leave Tokyo without visiting (unless you are a total vegan), is the tsukiji fish market and Kyubei sashimi master which is a block away. You should get to the market by 6 am (which works well with the jet lag) and get tickets to the tuna auction. I am not a carnivore, but this scene is worth seeing.
