camera commando !
some guys take their photography a little too seriously ! well then, i know its been a while since i have written, but with all thats gone on since, i thought it best to get some of it down now. if you cant find my last blog on sumatra thats ok, the whole travelblog site had some massive crash and server problems. basicaly most all the blogs were lost, but over the last week they have been repaired and are being put back online.
this should be my second last travel blog with my adventures in SE Asia for a while.
anyway so where were we ....... the last blog from my or larry's end was in sumatra, and i believe larry was going on about a possible 30 hour nightmare bus journey from hell. well she was wrong, we ended up having the 40+ hour bus journey from hell from bukatingi to jakarta. all i can say is we were wretched after it. since our last food poisoning we have been keeping away from the warungs and lets just say we were starving by the end of the trip. larry was going mad, cause the luxury vip bus we were supposed to have ended up being crammed with
broken bus
broken down in the ass end of nowhere locals and it broke down. all up the bus was a nightmare. we arrived in Jakarta at around 1-2 in the morning and were lucky to find a hostel. the whole journey we dremed about finding a hotel with hot water showers, but as usual we had to wash with a bucket of cold water !
so anyway lets carry on .....
Jakarta well my impretion of the city was nothing great, as a city it had none of the charm of the smaller towns and in terms of getting around it was pretty much a pain in the arse, cause you have to get a taxi everywhere. the only area that had any kind of real life in it was around the backpackers area. anyway the highlight of the place to me was a kick ass pool hall where i got to play loads of games, larry had a beer and some local girl was setting up the balls for me so i didnt even need to rack them !
Yogyakarta right then after a great overnight train journey (first class hey hey) we arrived in Yogya. this town was quite nice and we managed
to see most of the sights. it was easy enough to get accomodation (again no hot water !) and along with all the sight seeing we arranged transfer to mount bromo. so what is there to say about Yogya, well the was a waterpalace with no water, a bird market which would make ya sick to look at it and one of the crappiest palaces i have ever seen ! sorry but over all the place was pretty lame, although better than Jakarta. The temple outside the city was really great.
Mount Bromo right then, getting here was a slight pain in the arse, and not as comfortable as gettin to Yogya. But it was amazing. Where we went was the Volcano and it was really high up, which was great caus ethe temperature was nice and cool. Most people only stay for 1 night and leave for bali the next day. problem with that is that its a pain in the arse cause the next day your up from 4 in thr morni to see the sun rise on the volcano, and after that you have a full day of tavellin by bus. so me and larry
didnt feel like that so we stayed an extra night, which unfortunatly meant we were stuck on top of a mountain, with not much to do, but it meant we had the village to ourselves with no other tourists. which was good. anyway what more to say, normally i would let the picture speak for themselves abou the sun rise, but there is so much more to say. firsty off its cold up there, colder than a witches tit, and the hotel can loan you a coat. seriously look at the pictures and check out the coat i am wearing, its straight from the eighties, you know that kinda shell suit material ! check out the pattern on the lining of it ! anyway, some guys come well prepared check out the balacalavas on some of the asian dudes, christ.
anyway we had a good time there and then we were off .......
as usual thanks for all the comments and for reading the blogs.
