Day 1: Flight Denpasar - Labuan Bajo

Flight from Denpasar to Labuan Bajo. On arrival in Labuan Bajo there is a car waiting for you to bring you to the hotel.
In the afternoon there is time to relax, to take a swim in the pool or to wander around in Labuan Bajo.



Day 2: Labuan Bajo - Rinca island

After an early breakfast we go to the harbor where a boat is ready to leave for Rinca island. The trip will take about two hours and we will sail along different islands. If we are lucky we can see dolphins.
On arrival at Rinca island there is the possibility to do a two hour trekking around the island with a ranger from the National Park. During this trekking we hope to come across the Komodo Dragons, monkeys, deer, wild pigs, wild buffalos and many birds. Afterwards there is time for a cold drink in the restaurant before the boat leaves for Pantai Merah (Red Beach). We will have lunch on the boat and there is time for snorkeling. Around sunset we leave for Pulau Kalong to go and see the bats flying out. Here we’ll have dinner and stay the night on the boat.



Day 3: Komodo island – Labuan Bajo

The next morning we have breakfast on the boat and afterwards we leave for Komodo island where again we can do a trekking from two hours with a ranger. After this we will sail to Karang Makassar where we hope to see the manta rays.
Lunch is served on the boat and on the way back to Labuan Bajo we will stop for snorkeling at Kanawa Island. In the afternoon we will arrive in Labuan Bajo where a minibus will take us back to the hotel.



Day 4: flight Labuan Bajo – Denpasar

Transfer to the airport for the flight back to Denpasar



The price of this trip is:

- Rp 3.300.000 per person (boat with simple cabins with fan and electricity off around 10 PM)

- Rp 3.600.000 per person (boat with simple cabins with air conditioning and electricity all night)



The price includes:

2 nights hotel accommodation including breakfast (2 rooms)

Boat rental and snorkeling gear

Meals, drinking water, coffee and tea during the boat trip

English speaking guide

Transport from and to the harbor and airport



The price excludes:

Transport from and to Flores (tickets you can book via www.nusatrip.com or www.ticketindonesia.info)

All entrance fees and donations (around Rp 450.000 per person)

Lunch and dinner other then on the boat

NOTES

1. Fees plus donations are actually around Rp 500 000 pp (but more on a weekend) and this doesn't include ranger tips

2. Crew/guide tips need to be factored in also

3. I would not go with a/c /all night power next time - you can open door and window for breeze in the cabin or sleep up on the top deck. i found the generator sooooo noisy and had fumes in my cabin so had them turn it off just after 10pm. My parents wished we had left it on though- they found the cabin really hot. Personal choice I guess.

4. Hotel payment- There was an additional fee to pay the mandatory 50 %!d(MISSING)eposit by using Paypal which was Rp 290 000 (divided by 3 pax) and we also had to pay a 3%!s(MISSING)urcharge for using a credit card for the other 50%!u(MISSING)pon checkout (Rp 170 000 between 3 pax, although you could have this waived if you paid the balance with cash).

All up cost for our trip pp was about AUD $700 including all DPS- LBJ -DPS airfares/hotel/trip package/multiple tips/fees and the not included dinner and drinks at the hotel.

Could you do it cheaper? Absolutely, but it worked very well for us and I felt safe in the knowledge that the hotel stood behind the tour that they were selling us. I was really happy with what we received for the money and wouldn't hesitate to use the hotel and one of their packages again. If you were a large group or were happy to go on a boat with a larger number of others the price point would be lower.
