Andy about to get barreled We finally have something interesting to write in our blog!!
We went on a 3-day trip to Uluwatu leaving Wed (27/4/2010). Uluwatu is one of the most famous surfing destinations around the world. We hired a car and driver (Pendro), and left Canggu early with Min and James( couple from Melbourne we met at Echo beach Canggu). We stopped off at Dreamland to have a look and find accommodation but it had changed so much over the years it was a bit disappointing. Pendro recommended we go to Blue point which is right in front of Uluwatu surf break. Blue Point is a resort on top of the cliff and is the only accommodation close to the beach so we decided to stay there. It was "a little" more than what we wanted to pay but the pool sold it for us!! Pendro managed to bargain down the price from $170US per night to $130US per night..including breakfast of course!
When we arrived the surf wasn't very good so we decided to hang by the pool. We arranged for Fitzy and Lou to meet us at the hotel to have some bintang beers that afternoon. Later that afternoon the

Nice wave tide went out and the wind dropped off and the surf started pumping...Andy couldn't believe his eyes!! At this point in time we were still waiting for Fitzy and lou to rock up, Andy was itching to get out for a surf and couldn't wait any longer. So Andy and James went surfing while Min and I sat at the bar on the cliff and drank Bintangs. It turned out to be a magical evening with good company, good sunset and ice cold Bintangs!
The next day was pretty much a repeat of the previous day...surfing,pool,eating,drinking,sleep,more surfing then off to the Rock Bar at Ayanna Resort near Jimbaran Bay. Ayanna Resort was previously the Ritz Carlton and probably one of the best hotels we've been to! We survived the crazy taxi ride there and needed a few cocktails to calm our nerves!! The Rock Bar is situated at the bottom of the hotel, you can either catch the gondola down the cliff to the bar or take the long way down the stairs. There was a huge queue for the gondola(3-4 people at a time) so we had to take the stairs... better to take the stairs on the

Some lucky bloke way there than on the way back with a belly full of cocktails!
The four of us were meeting up with Lou and Fitzy but there was a wait for tables at the actual bar so we waited at the bar on the sand. By strange coincidence we bumped into Adrian and Elle( friends from Perth) they had already been waiting for half an hour so we put our names on their table and only had to wait 10 minutes.
We all got stuck into the cocktails not realizing that the bill had 21% service tax on top of the already expensive ( by Bali standards) list. All up our group spent a total of $600 just on drinks...we couldn't afford dinner! The flaming Lamborghini's, cocktails and Bintangs were worth every penny!! Its a place where everyone should go once in their lifetime... but once is enough!!
Andy woke up at 6 the next morning dazed and confused (still drunk) contemplating whether or not to go for a surf, he got as far as putting his boardies on then decided to wait in bed for James to knock on the door... James had the same idea. There was no

Andy scratching his head wondering why people are surfing at low tide (~1 foot deep on sharp coral) knocking on doors, therefore no surfing. After brekky and recuperation by the pool, we left Blue Point and headed over to Sanur to meet Fitzy and Lou. After lunch by the pool we headed to the Lazer bar (oppostite their hotel) for some 2 for 1 cocktails during happy hour. We moved on to Mango's Bar to try the grilled snapper that Lou had been raving on about. We didnt actually eat until 9pm that night as we were too busy having fun with our friends and the locals at Mango's. Jonny was the manager and kept the Bintangs and B52's flowing that night. We arranged for Pendro to pick us up at 9 that night but didn't end up getting home till 1am. It was another great night...and the snapper was excellent!
Its time to give our livers a rest before my birthday!
Over and out!!
