What do you think makes a good travel buddy? Just because you like someone or even if you're good friends it doesn't mean you'll travel well together. Traveling will take whatever relationship you have with this person to a completely different level. Here's a few of my prerequisites for a travel buddy: no snoring, no complaining, carry your own stuff and keep up and watch for changes. You don't have to be able to read a map. I can do that; but it would earn you some bonus points. You don't have to speak the language. That's why there's Rosetta Stone.

I've had some good travel buddies and some bad travel buddies. I wish I could speak frankly on this matter but they may eventually read this blog. As far as a good travel buddy goes, I'd have to say the gold medal goes to Sarah. You would love traveling with her. Sarah has all the components of a perfect partner. First and foremost, the girl doesn't snore. She will actually attempt to have a logical conversation with me when I'm under the influence of Ambien. She can read a subway map upside down. She never complains about being hungry, tired or her feet hurting. She doesn't hog the bathroom. She makes me laugh til I could pee my pants. She'll race me up four flights of stairs in an old hotel because we're faster than the elevator. She loves museums and she's competent. I love being with competent people. That's why I love Sarah.

I've been thinking of writing about other travel experiences besides those in India and I keep going back to my adventures with Sarah. We've survived the clutches of a murderous mad man in Dublin, an earthquake in Rome, square dancing with Italians in Ireland, not to mention an incident with a breast pump at the Colosseum. Yes, you read that part right.

We're embarking on our next journey together in just three weeks which may very well be our biggest undertaking to date. I will keep all of you abreast (no pun intended) of our travels. In the meantime, I'll be posting the stories of our incidents abroad that I believe to be quite entertaining. If you have anything to add to my "What Makes a Great Travel Buddy" criterea please suggest.

Until then, keep up and watch for changes.

Ouch!!!
Hey! Remember me. Once upon a time your favorite person. We've sailed the high seas together, 4-wheelered our way thru Mexico. I was with you at the Colosseum (not the one using the breast pump by the way) & I too survived the earthquake in Rome - but sadly it was from a room away. Banished because of my snoring. Sadness. P.S. I love Sarah too - she's pretty great.
