The confluence as it looks in the night.
An untoward landslide on the way to Ukhimath made my husband and me avert and pit stop at Rudraprayag.Rudraprayag is an idyllic stop for the pilgrims heading ti Kedarnath and Badrinath. It is located on the confluence of Alaknanda and Mandakini. A rekky route provided us with better knowledge and insight to this small little town.According to the Puranas Lord Shiva appeared in his Rudra(angry) form to bless Naranda who waa trying to appease him with his prayers. Honestly im not the spiritual types but its somehow always so intresting to find out the history of a place.

After a breather to our aching bones we set out for the evening aarti at the sangam or the confluence of two rivers ie. Mandakini and Alaknanda. There were myriad hues for our senses to absorb. It had a very soothing effect on us. We sat in silence with the sadhus chanting their hymns and dipping in the holy rivers, amazed at what diversity and beauty our country beholds.
We headed back after the aarti to Rudra complex which is Garwal Mitra Mandal’s rest house. This was our best bet and it provided us with an excellent view of the confluence. The confluence illuminated by
