Holly & Deb camping on the Ganges, India We were woken around six with Chai, as we had to make an early start to make up for lost time yesterday. The sunrise was magnificent & breakfast was a feast of porridge, toast & hot drinks; including hot chocolate. The boat men packed up camp, we were back on the boats for seven & sailed for a few hours before having Chai & biscuits for morning tea. After lunch we arrived at our destination & transferred into two waiting 4WD's. The local children crowded around & were facinated by Louises stuffed 'Tigger' toy. After a squeezy two hour drive, we arrived in the holiest of holy cities, Varanassi. We took a sunset walk along the ghats of the Ganges & I witnessed my first outdoor & very public cremation. We stopped & watched the evening prayer session before catching rickshaws back to the hotel for a late dinner. Whilst waiting for a rickshaw, Hannah bought some Galub Jamun to try. It's a dessert best described as a heated doughnut hole soaked in sugar syrup - totally delicious.
