Touching Taj

The following etappe of our journey we treated ourselves and took a driver from Delhi to Agra, where the Taj Mahal is situated. This was extremely comfortable and nice after the Varanasi shakedown and being ill. Agra itself is a big city but apparently not worth visiting apart from the Taj (we did not verify this but believed all our Indian friends and the guidebooks). Of course the area around the Taj is incredibly touristy - however it was definitely worth the visit as it is really a very very beautiful building. We went there for sunrise (another early morning) and were at the gates at 5:45 to get the tickets. So we were lucky enough to get in with the first visitors in the morning. We even have a few photos with just the Taj and no other tourists on. When we left at around 8 the place was incredibly crowded and we were really happy that we made the effort of another early morning.

Fuer die folgende Etappe unserer Reise haben wir uns einen Fahrer gegoennt, was uns nach Varanasi und krank sein wirklich sehr gut getan hat weil stressfrei. Von Delhi ging es nach Agra, wo das Taj Mahal steht. Agra selber ist eine grosse Stadt, die aber fuer sich nicht besuchenswert sein soll - wir haben das nicht verifiziert sondern unseren indischen Freunden und dem Reisefuehrer geglaubt. Natuerlich ist die Gegend um das Taj unglaublich touristisch. Der Besuch hat sich aber absolut geloht weil das Taj Mahal wirklich unglaublich schoen ist. Wir sind zum Sonnenaufgang hingegangen (mal wieder frueh aufstehen) und waren um 5:45 am Ticketschalter. Somit waren wir einer der ersten, die um 6 Uhr eingelassen wurden und haben sogar ein paar Fotos, auf denen das Taj ohne andere Touristen drauf ist. Als wir um 8 rum wieder raus sind war das Areal dermassen mit Touristen ueberfuellt, dass wir sehr froh waren, dass wir so frueh aufgestanden sind.
