Bundi
Bundi Fort OK, after another dreadful night bus, this one being not quite as uncomfortable as the first, we arrived in Bundi and at our hotel at the crack of down.
Bundi is a nice little relaxing town, dominated by a large fort, the
Taragarh Fort, and the hotels area mostly scattered around a lake. The town is also famously known for being the town which gave
Rudyard Kipling the inspiration for
Kim. If you haven't read this or neither really know who he is, he wrote The jungle book!
We spent the first afternoon catching up on our sleep and cooling off under our fan, as the heat here was unbearable. Come the afternoon, we mooched around the city, dinned at a rooftop restaurant, and watched the monkeys cheekily steal food from around. The next morning we planned to get up early and take a morning stroll around the fort. After breakfast however, it was already too hot to do anything. So we spent yet again the mid hours of the day, relaxing and trying to cool down. In the afternoon, we then made our way to the local market, which was bustling with traffic, packed with people and everywhere everybody was selling everything
Bundi
Bundi Fort at Night or anything. From colorful flowers to brass pots. From oily mechanics willing to repair your rickshaw to tailors making beautiful
Saris. From nutritious veg, laid out on blankets to deep fried, fat dripping
somosas. We also stumbled across a street dedicated to only selling chilies. The street was littered with piles upon piles of red chilies, the smell stinging our nostrils. The piles are continuously turned over to allow them to dry in the sun. Though covered in exhaust fumes, dust and who knows what, they were not that spicy but delicious.
We never got to see the Fort. It was always toooooo hot to move. We just spent a lazy few days eating in the garden of our hostel, reading books, I cut Diana's hair(I am now a semi-professional hair dresser) , oh, and I had to retrieve my flip flop from the roof as I also fell victim to a monkey attack. I now have three large bite marks in the sole of my flip flop, with large chunks missing. He must have thought he managed to grab some cheese...
We then made our way via Kota to Agra to see the Taj Mahal..
