Firstly sorry about the lack off photos we are having difficulty putting them on the pc but no difficulty taking them lol soon we promise....Delhi..... wow.... it takes a day to get used to it but when you get used to the people everywhere trying to sell you anything and everything as well as cows, auto rickshaws, bike rickshaws, the weird smells, and the heat everywhere its really the most amazing place we went on the first day on a bike rickshaw to the tibetan market that ended up not being the tibetan market just some market the guy got commision from if we bought anything this happens alot... we then got in a auto rickshaw and went for a tour around old dehli seeing some of the mosques and temples and eating in a indian restaurant the guy driving suggested he was quite young and was studying english. this trip cost us about 4 pounds for about 8 hours it was really quite amazing. we met nanna to a lady from iceland who is going to travel with us to arga japuir and varanasi, we then slept. 1/7/08 this morning we awoke and got a tour of old and new
delhi provided by the hotel it was really good my favorite was the gandi house this is where he lived in delhi for 144 days and was assasinated here the information was amazing all about his life. our first stop of the day was jama masjid mosque, the red fort, baj ghat (a tomb), india gate, parliment house , gandi museum and house, lotus temple, then to the rajdhan restaurant of dinner. 2/7/08 we got up early as we had a 5 hour drive to agra to the taj mahal, what a tolally awe inspiring place its huge and just built to perfection its everything and so much more than we imagined. the hotel is ok!! we then went to a restaurant that our driver took us to for noodles. we didnt eat to many as the place wasnt the ??cleanest and still watching our tummies. 3/7/08 oh boy i have been up all night and feel really ill delhi belly as they call it is terrible, sickness and the other all of us have the other.... anyway moving on..... we saw the red fort of agra today. then drove on to japuir (the pink city) we checked in to
the hotel. we are all sharing a room but its ok as we have found a wonderful new friend. today i witnesses the over friendliness of a indian male lol the porter... took our bags to the room and as i went into my bag to tip him, as i was the only one with him (henry and nanna were still checking in) he said "nice boobies" he heard the friendliness of a english woman as i chases him out of the room shouting that he was a bad man and i would tell his boss, he kept saying sorry sorry and then asked for his tip i told him to go away and ask his boss why he got no tip... lol. a woman scorned... our driver ashhok had spent the day telling us about a great place he would take us to called choki dani we 1. didnt want to go to the market for dinner again and 2. were quite happy at a place called chocolate honey as we heard it ( we were wrong) we went in the evening to chocki dani it was an amusement park with dancers elephant and camel rides henna paintings, magicians.
and more indian food this time we sat in the floor with all the other people watching us eat we played with the food a little but watched our bellies. we got some bread and jam on the way home and chocolate (cadburys but not cadburys) when we got back to the room a mouse had joined the party so we moved rooms, the now room was great with no water in the shower though we all slept well we must have needed it... 4/7/08 we got up early and saw some sites then drove back the 6 hours to delhi to get on the train this evening to varanasi. it left at 6.30pm and got to varanasi at 7.30am but the delays ment we got there at 12 mid day we met a really nice lady from delhi who we may contact when we return to delhi and an american couple and there son who work in varanasi in a home for widows we may if time allows go to see them... 5/7/08 we got to the hotel and took showers then went on a tour of the sites and went on a boat for 4 hours (the boat
men conned us telling us we had to have 4 hours and this was 2000 irp though really was worth every penny we went up and down the ghats and saw the 2 burning ghats where they burn the dead in wood fires on the ghat this was really sad for us to see but its all part of their religion. we then went across the river and saw varanasi from the other side as well as 2 dead bodies on the banks of the river being eaten by dogs (sometimes they dont burn there dead if 1. its a holy man, 2. its a child under 10 3. its a pregnant lady, 4. the person was bitten by a cobra, and 5. if the person has leprosy. these bodies are wrapped the same and let to float on the ganges. it was very very sad and quite horrible to see. we then went back to the other side and watched a ceremony that takes place at 7 pm every evening. it was so spiritual and we are so lucky to be sat on a boat on the ganges witnessing a beautiful sight we are truelly lucky and came away
this evening chocked by emotions. we went to the mall near the hotel and had a nice big pizza from pizza hut and chocolate cake.... we then saw a large black bug running across the floor lol any ideas anyone lol.... we are not going to think about it.... 6/7/08 we got up at 5.30am and went again to the river and on a boat but this time a different one and watched all the people bathing as this is the place the people come to the ghats to bath the pilgrims and the locals the holy men and the children its so truelly amazing to see. speechless.... we then went to saranath the place 9deer park as its known) were buddha gave his 1st sermon to his 5 disciples totally wonderful place. it rained for the first time today and it bucketed down....we went to pizza hut again stuff the bug... nanna left us this afternoon to go to her friends wedding it was really sad as we really enjoyed her company. we then went back to the hotel and watched a movie on china and fell asleep. 7/7/08 we showered and relaxed and then the driver who we
had met a couple of times took us to the train station we really like this man he is quiet but his english is really really good when we asked how he spoke and understood so well he said he listened to the tourists and was an uneducated man though his english was better that all the people we met in india so far. at the train station we had to walk across the track to get to the platform and i had to be helped up the other side oh so very lady like not.... the train left at 1.45pm and arrived on time in delhi at 7am going all round the houses and villages we were lucky we had a 2 berth area so we played cards and relaxed for hours and hours.... 8/7/08 we got to the good old smiley inn hotel and god into a room and slept and its now 1pm we are up to date on the pc and we are going to eat bread and jam again lol as our bellies are still a little bad but its ok really xxxxxxxxxx
