1.TIKONA FORT-
Tikona also known as Vitandgad) is the dominant hill fort in maval . It is located near pawna in tikona peth village around 70 km from pune and 120 km mumbai. The 3500 ft high hill is pyramidal in shape and the name Tikona means “triangular”.

the perimeter of the fort is not very big, you can see all the forts in an hour. After entering through the gate of the fort, turn left, after walking a short distance, you come across a water tank and a cave. The cave can accommodate 10 to 15 people. But the cave is unsuitable for living in the rainy season. The path leading up to the side of the cave leads directly to the entrance of Bale fort. The steps at the entrance are breathtaking. If there are water tanks on the right after entering through the door. The ramparts are visible on the left. Here are some water tanks. From here, turn around and take a straight path. This path takes you to some broken steps. Going up from here, there is a temple of Mahadev in front. There is a big moat behind the temple. After turning it, we reach the place of the flagpole. Tung, Lohgad, Visapur and pawna lake are all visible from the fort. From the fort, you can see the entire Maval region. In this way you can see the entire fort in 4 hours and start your return journey. It takes 2 hour to walk around all the forts.

2.Tung fort-
Tung fort is also named Kathingad fort. The word “Kathin” in Marathi means difficult. While climbing, one can experience the difficult challenge of reaching this fort. The fort is conical and has steep climbs with a very narrow route on the edge of the mountain throughout.
From Lonavala, one can reach the base village Tung around 25 km via Bushi Dam-INS Shivaji-Peth Shahapur-morve phatha. From Tung village, reaching this fort requires about a 300-metre climb

The fort is very crowded so you can see all the forts in an hour. The road from Tungwadi to the fort passes near the Maruti temple. This temple can accommodate 5 to 6 people. There are steps to reach the fort at a short distance from this temple. Hanuman Temple is located at a distance of steps. Next is the door to the Gomukhi structure. Once inside, we reach the top of the fort. On the right is the Ganesha temple. From here, there is a road leading to Balekilla. There is a temple of Tungidevi on the fort. In front of the temple is a cave dug in the ground. It can accommodate 2 to 3 people in other seasons besides monsoon. Thus one can return to Lonavla by seeing the fort in one day. Access to Tung Fort All access to the fort passes through the foothills of Tungwadi. It takes about 45 minutes to reach the fort from this wadi.
3.Lohagad fort-

Lohagad fort is of the hill fort type. Lohagad fort in the Lonavala mountain range in Pune district is considered easy for trekkers. About 8 km from Malvali station on Pune-Lonavala railway line. In the distance is the fort. Lohagad Visapur forts have been advertised on the platform of the railway station. It says – “Lohgad, Visapur Fort “. After leaving Malwali station, cross the bridge on the new expressway and go beyond. After walking for about half an hour, you come to Bhaje village. From here a step path leads to the caves of destiny. The other train goes to Lohgaon at the foot of Lohagad. The ramparts and bastions of Lohagad attract attention from Lohgaon. This easy to climb fort can be easily captured. There is a beautiful clear water tank on the fort. Located in Pawna lake and the protector of Lonavala (Bor) Ghat, Lohagad is easily visible from the Pune-Mumbai highway. At the heart of the fort are the famous caves of Bhaje and Bedse. You can get off at Malwali station on the Mumbai – Pune railway line and reach the fort.
4. KARLA CAVES –

The Karla Caves are located near the village of karla near Lonavla, about 10 km from Lonavala. There is a temple of Goddess Ekvira devi. karla Caves is the oldest cave in Maharashtra. The caves are carved in the hills above the village of karla. karla Caves is right next to the Mumbai – Pune highway. The caves are approximately two hours from Mumbai and one hour from Pune.
