Hi,

I had a wonderfull week in Varkala. The beach is less beautiful then Palolem in Goa but I met very nice people so I had a very good time.
I have escaped from the rain in Kodaikanal just to discover that it was raining in Varkala but just for one day.
The Kerala people say that the rain is originated by a cyclone near Chennai, Tamil Nadu. It is not Kerala fault but Tamil Nadu fault.
Just next to the beach there is a cliff and all the restaurants and hotels are situated there. All restaurants present fish to eat so one has just to pick. So everyday I have picked a big fish that was delightfully cooked.
After the cliff ends, to the north, there is nice fishernen scenary and this is more a Muslem village, or maybe all are Muslem.
I was swimming and cathing waves every morning and evry evening. There are some great waves here.
The water are not very filthy. The only problem is that when ones swims, it is very likely to hit some plastic rubbish, clothings (of drawn people, maybe?), etc.
In the beach there are several life guards dressed with uniforms. Their only saving life utility is their whistle. Once in a while they whistle and if you look at them, you might understand by their hands movements what they want. But most of the time they just talk and giggle. I wonder if they can swim at all.
