Hey Guys,

We're going to keep this one nice and short as we're cooking in a very crowded internet cafe!

The flight from Goa to Kerala went fine, a bit too good and now Dan doesn't want to travel by train anymore! After arriving in Cochin we took a two hour taxi ride to Allepey where we checked into Johnson's Nest which was very nice! We had a bathroom(!) and balcony with swinging wicker chairs! There’s not too much going on in Allepey but it’s the best place to get a houseboat for exploring the Kerala backwaters.

We boarded the boat the following day and had a 22hour cruise of the backwaters. It was very calm and relaxing and some of the views were beautiful but we didn’t really enjoy the company of our fellow passengers, the rats and ants that shared our bedroom! We had the boat to ourselves with three crew, including a cook, which wasn’t bad for 50 quid!

After a restless night on the boat, trying to keep the rats at bay, I have to admit that we were more than happy to abandon ship and head for Kochi. We arrived yesterday afternoon and checked into the Elite Hotel, where we have a clean little room with both bathroom AND television! Dan’s in heaven because we’ve been able to watch the cricket all day!

We’re going to spend the next 4/5 days here and use it as a chance to chill out before heading to Madras and then on to Malaysia. Sorry to have been so brief but we’ll hopefully catch up with you again soon.

Hope it’s not too cold!

Love
Dan&Dani

P.S For some reason it's not letting us upload our photos so we'll try and upload them next time.

Must say that we could think of better things to do while on holiday than sitting in a hotel room watching the cricket!! Still, it's a best of 3 final series - 2 things are certain. One - that Australia will have its revenge! Two - that you'll be spending two more days in the hotel room (it won't be over in the next match). Of course, we could be wrong !! Oh, by the way - pop on to the BBC website - interesting opening paragraph on the state of English Football - “England woefully underperformed to slip to their first home defeat under coach Steve McClaren in an international friendly against Spain at Old Trafford”. Please don't look up the web to find that Australia lost 3-1 to Denmark. All the best, Mark & Felicity
