6:15am Bangalore. I got to talk to my baby today. I show will be glad when I get my cell phone fixed. Work was busy today. I am settling in to my role as pseudo-supervisor here. All the Adjusters and axious to learn the file and learn about comp. I don't think it is the American connection so much as it is for the zest to learn new things. Why comp though I asked myself this evening. One guy, he worked for IBM as an project manager before and then with some accounting firm as a financial analyst. He says he likes COMP but.....he new. it'l catch on. At file committe they are so anxious to present there cases and learn how to navigate through the system. It is Holiday season here all week so everyone was dressed in traditional Indian attire today. I like my co-workers here, even though there presence may put my job at jeapordy some day. They are all young, so young and they really work hard to get ahead in this society. One male co-worker today invited Diane and I to a disco club next weekend. He was telling me today that the Commissioner/Governor//Mayor has banned dancing at the bars here. You can dance in the lounge area but on the dance floor is banned. Apparently the Government feels that society is moving ahead at too fast a clip. This would never go over in the US. And he said women get there buts pinched on the dance floor all the time and just have to accept is or get off. He went on to explaint the situation with men outnumbering women. He did not go in to the reasons why but he did not have to cause I already know. At 2:30am I hit a wall. I have three projects going on and am pushing Adjusters to get caught up on diaries and complete special projects. Me, presuring them. of all people right. I love it that I have answers for all there questions...Rita was right, there excitement about the job is refreshing... it won't last. they are already working a little over and coming in a little early. The office never really closed or empties out. There are 3 CSR shifts. I did not eat Indian again today. Chef Boy Beef ravioli today. Tomorrow I will switch to Hendi food. Wish me luck on not getting sick. Diane has thrown here pallate right in...and she is suffering from gas from all the spices. On they way in today we saw a bit of the poverty here. Kids coming up to the window knocking on the door begging for money. old women. it was hard not to make eye contact. especially since you are sitting at a light. And they do not go away until the car moved forward. It rained the whole time we were at work. The power went down during file committe twice and a couple other times. Productivity is hendered cause the computers or on a different power source and just keep going This little seven year old boy came up to the car today begging for money. He was on crutches and looked like he lived on the street. But I couldn't cause we would have been swarmed. They advise against giving money to beggars. Rita act like she from here how she handle these people. She has mastered handling the driver and store people...I guess it takes some getting use to. The houses here all look like compounds...They all have gates of some kind and are on double wide lots. Everyone hangs clothes for drying so it is normal to see lots of that driving down the road. There are a LOT of people here as well. The folks I thought was squatting at the new construction out back of the hotel are acutally employees..>they live on the site until it is completed. Oh my god, and men pissing on the street is normal....If I see another ma pull it out and piss I don't know what to do. The women are beautiful...so are them though. More cows on the street. We drove by this huge costruction site today. At first glance I thought it was a shante town with houses erected like the ones you see on TV in Africa. I learned later that the people working on the site actaully live there util completion. Why dont ask me we did not get that far before my Americanism came out. I mean these are women, small children, and men...And they do NOT look like costruction workers. They still use a hammer and nail. I have not seen one crane or heard one electric power tool of any kind. They wear little to no clothes, probably due to the heat, and sandals. It rained the whole time were were at work. The AC is not that good when it works and it gets humid as hell. When we came out the streets were flooded. And Bangalore looks a wreck at night. It looks like one huge slum. The environment coupled with the poverty makes it difficult to keep streets paved (most are dirt---GoodYear loves this place I am sure) if they are paved at all. I am not dogging Bangalore. It is so different from what I am accustom to but I am loving it and not judging the place. We Americans are a spoiled ass lot. Wasteful society. To quote Rita "I will never complain about people on welfare again" We should be proud to be able to support those unfortunate and down & out in our society. We should never get so sensitized to the unfortunate/poor as I have seen here. No excursions today...I need to try and sleep. It is 7am and I better try to go to sleep. A coworker here will be looking at my laptop for me so picture soon hopefully. Thanks to all for your support cause a brother needs it. Oh, and you may find spelling and grammar errors here. This blog just me emptying my thought for the day before I try to go to bed during the day. Sorry if you run in to spelling mistakes but I aint correcting them. Lata....And thanks for the comments to the BLOG. I will keep posting daily or when I can. Namastay Mere Dosthte.
