Church of our Lady of the Immaculate Conception, or some such rubbish (Tom). Pretty though.
Bry speaking: After chilling on the beach for a week we both felt like complete tourists and had a need to balance with at least a little culture. So, we hopped on a couple of local busses for the two hour trip to Panaji. Georgeous old Potuguese buildings, most in a sorrowful state. We popped into the Museum, we were almost the only ones there. The exhibits were just out on tables and you could touch pretty well anything; not particularly secure but great to be able to get close to the sculptures, etc. We had a look round a few of the many churches in Old Goa, but being as neither of us has even a smidgen of Christian faith nor an appreciation of Christian art I imagine a lot of it went completely over our heads where others might have found something really special. After a day and a half in Panaji we hopped back to Margao and spent a couple of hours in the municipal park playing yet another game of Scrabble in which Tom got all 7 letters out for the first time ever (although I have to say, with no modesty at all, I did still

beat him). Then a couple of pints in a local colonial style bar before a meal at

Goa's finest restaurant

, where the fish curry was indeed very fine. The waiters got chatting and were keen for us to know that one among them had just entered a 'love marriage' about which they all seemed pretty thrilled. A quick Rickshaw ride and we arrived att the train station at the same time as our train and our carriage was conveiently right in front of us. Our 2AC bunks were pretty well the same as 3AC, but with a little more head room. Neither of us slept fantastically, again despite being dark, cool, quiet and comfortable. Ah well, perhaps we'll get the hang of sleeping on trains in South East Asia.
