It's been a while since the last entry, so I thought it was time to fill you in on what happened at the end of February! Just two nights after I arrived back from Thailand, my Mum arrived in HK, so once again I was busy being a tourist around town! We had a great time and got up to lots of fun things! We started her visit with a bizarre restaurant, that would only survive in a few places in the world...'Modern Toilet'! We sat on toilets, ate over a sink, drank from mini urinals, and ate out of bathtubs and toilets. The walls were decorated with toilet lids, and it was all very bizarre, but fun!
We survived the cable car up to the Big Buddha - it had been out of action for a few months because a cable car fell off! It was a good view, and we had a nice stroll around at the top. We spent a day at Ocean Park, which was great - there were sharks, jellyfish, huge ugly fish, turtles, rays and more, as well as some great rides and a dolphin show, sea lions, and some cute cute pandas!! It
was a really good day out, and for once it was sunny!!
Another trip up the peak, and another fantastic meal with a view of HK - a lovely evening. Of course, afternoon tea at the Peninsula, darling! It's becoming a bit of an regular event...I can deal with that! Mum and I went to Tai O fishing village and saw lots of dead drying fish which is not the most attractive thing, but interesting nonetheless! After our day there, we had dinner in a cafe that I like called Rainbow colours cafe which is very 'Hong Kong' and all a bit random. None of the chairs match, and it has a good buzz about it. There are board games and card games to play, and a decent menu, so we spent one evening there.
One thing we did take a liking to was the 'symphony of lights' show...we often happened to be in TST or near the harbour at 8pm when show takes place every night. It's one of my favourite things, where they play music and the skyline buildings flash their lights in time with the music. In fact, I think I know the tune quite

Only in Hong Kong....this restaurant is for real!
A toilet themed restaurant. well now! It goes without saying we managed to fit in some shopping. We did pretty well along the markets, and had a good 'local' dinner in the Temple street night market while we were there.
Since Mum left, I've been just as busy with other things, catching up with friends, going to the gym. I'm pleased to say that the sun has returned to HK - I spent Sunday afternoon at the beach. Warm weather is back! I'm hoping it's here to stay! On Monday I went to a hockey practice at the Happy Valley stadium with some friends, and having not played for about 6 years, it wasn't as foreign to me as I thought it would be and I had a good time....must have been good for me seen as I still ache from it!
More to come soon!

My random addition to this blog...something I saw at the MTR station that for me, summed up a common Hong Kong childhood; Little girl with a ballet outfit on and hair in a bun, carrying a musical instrument, whilst reading some English book to the parent she was with! Could they
