MONDAY - DISNEYLAND:
I couldn't wait for this day to come. None of us have been to Disneyland. I know this one is smaller and probably doesn't compare with the others in the States but for us it was a great adventure.
Ratko and Erin were still complaining about going on Sunday night, saying it was for kids and I said so what we have never been to one. They decided that half a day would be enough ignoring my protests.
We had breakfast in the hotel and headed out. It takes 3 train chanages and about an hour to get there.
Hong Kong Disneyland is the only one with a Disney train to take you from Sunny Bay to the Park. It has mickey shaped windows and the holding handles are mickey shapes. All along the train in cases are statues of all the disney characters. As you can guess, we have photos!
We arrived at midday! There were protests because I wanted to stay for the fireworks at 7 but I stood firm for once.
We left the hotel and it was a little chilly, I wasn't sure what to wear but Ratko thought it would
the only Disney train in the world
How beautiful is this, mickey shaped windows & even the hand straps were Mickey shaped probably come out warm so off I went in short sleeves. That decision cost him money! We arrived and it was quite cool so I HAD to buy a fleecy jacket to wear! Had sad is that! A Disneyland jacket!
You have never seen anything so clean! I was advised to go mid week and it was great. There was no queueing for anything. The 2 shows we saw were fabulous. One was based on the academy awards and the other the festival of the lion king.
The main parade was very spectacular with a lot of performers as well as the floats. Unfortunately Ratko forgot to pack extra tapes for the video camera so I got little bits on my still camera. We saw Main Street & Fantasyland but only got to see a little bit of tomorrowland and 1 ride and a small bit of adventureland. It was then time to get some souvenirs before the fireworks as I had read it was hard afterwards.
As Shan missed her trip to Universal Studios, I bought her some great things to make up.
The fireworks weren't just fireworks. The whole thing was choreographed to music
walking up to the entrance
The excitement is building! with sleeping beauty's castle being the centrepiece, changing colours all the time. It was a magical end to a wonderful day.
We thought there would be a long wait for a train but by the time Erin went in and got more sourvenirs it had dispersed and we had a great ride home.
You definately need a full day to see everything. Especially for those that want to do rides, we only did one in our HALF DAY! And each of the shows in half an hour.
This morning, Erin has decided she wants to sleep in. Ratko and I are going to Maxims for dim sum and then if the cloud lifts are of to Lantau to see the Big Buddha and have the cable car ride. We will see how it is a little later.
You probably didn't read about it, but on Sunday night 2 turbojets collided between HK and Macau in the fog. I said to Ratko on Thursday I don't know why the continue in that sort of weather. 150 injured and still lots in Macau hospitals. They really travel at speed, so it would have been awful, especially not being able
Main Street
as it says, the main street to see around them in the fog.
Please excuse all the typos as I am doing this, the keyboard touch is totally different to the one back home.
I will report in again tomorrow.
