Foot Massage
It was only $119HKD and it made my feet all tingly Woke up at 8AM refreshed and I was glad we had drank at the hostel because it is easier to get in bed afterwards. Today my group was all going to different places. Me back to Canada, Ian to China, one Vera to Taiwan and the other Vera to Macau. I walked with Vera to the airport bus stop where she would take the bus to the airport. I memorized the location for my own use later that day. I grabbed breakfast at a nearby diner and after that I went looking for a foot massage place. The hostel had recommended one but when I got there it was not open yet so I circled the block and found another one which was some lady's apartment. First I had to dunk my foot in very hot water and she got to work. It started with some oil and intensive rubbing on the foot and calves. It gradually got stronger and stronger until I could feel them really working the muscles. The massage was 45 minutes and was $119HKD and the reason I chose it over the full body massage was because it was shorter, cheaper and felt less invasive than the
full body massage. My feet were all tingly afterwards and actually felt relaxed so I tipped the nice lady $20HKD afterwards.
After my massage I met up with Ian again and we went to the Sha Tin Race course on the edge of Hong Kong. We chose this one because it close to the border with Shenzhen China where Ian worked. We bet on some horses for the afternoon but we kept losing. Oddly enough we came close a few times until the last race. My last bet was for the 2 horses with the longest odds. The clerk at ticket window was laughing at me when they saw my bet. It was an important race judging by the number of people in the stands. My horses were 1 and 2 for most of the race until the end when they faded. Ian's horse came in 4th which was enough to win his bet. We both lost some money, not a great deal, $200HKD or so apiece. It was not that much money and we had an afternoon of entertainment for it. After that I said my goodbye to Ian and heading back to the hostel. I had some
money left on my transit card which I could have gotten refunded but decided to keep the card as a souvenir. I chatted a bit more with other hostel people including a few who were living their long term. Last person I met on this trip was Bianca an English teach working in Shanghai.
With all my good memories I packed up and went on the bus and onto the airport. Shortly afterwards I boarded my Finnair flight to home. It had been a trip to remember but I was missing Canada at this point. Well Asia it is time to say goodbye for now.
