After the rainy Xi'an , I headed West toward Urumqi, capital of the Xinjiang Province and home of the Uighur minority. As I foze my butt off in Tian Chi lake in the Tian Shan Mountain range, as soon as I could I left toward the much warmer and sunnier Turpan. I have seen some pretty awesome desert village ruins from the 4th and 7th centuries and some 1200 years old mummies pretty well preserved...
