so many problems, so annoyed!

We spent two days in Kunming which were filled with frustrations all over the place. The city's sights were a dissappointment, it's specialty "over the bridge noodles" tasted like Cambells chicken soup, we got lost wandering the city for hours, and then my cell phone broke. I spent half the next day at a shop trying to translate my problem to 6 different shop assistants only to find out 4 hours later they couldn't help me.

WIthout food for most of the day and another walking tour of the city, Camille and I were not happy. We sat down for dinner and ordered a ham and mushroom dish. WOW! it was the best thing we had eaten so far and could not get enough of it! we were sad to finish the last bite but completely revived and ready to start out again!

We hopped in a cab to catch our overnight sleeper bus to Dali. We arrived at the bus station and were greeted by SKETCH. A sketchy man in an all-white suit insisted on leading us around the paring lot's maze of buses where he ushered us to another sketch man wrapped in a white woman's scarf. He said he was the laoban (boss) of the bus drivers. He took our tickets and scammed us out of 20 yuan each for the "fuel tax," and also tried to slip us a counterfit 10 yuan bill. We boarded the bus (STINK BOMB!) lined with bar-framed beds, and I argued with him again over which bed was ours. We settled in next to a Chinese woman already asleep, and tried to ignore the smell of feet coming from the four pairs hovering near our heads.
