UNESCO - Long stop in Dali old town

We were only planning to stay a couple of days in the small town of Dali and ended up staying for four days. Dali is a very old town where the first settlements are dated from 3000 years ago. Located at 1900m high, near the lake Erhai, the town is surrounded by mountains up to 4000m high. It is just an awesome place and you can judge by yourself when looking at the photos we took.

I (Elfi) had the contact of a friend of a friend (Matthieu), his partner (Dorine) and their newly born daughter. We met the family in a park near the city centre. It's where we tried tea with "crisanteum" flower for the first time. They introduce us to the region and their circle of friends. It is how we got a complete and very interesting explanation of the different sort of teas produced in China, their origin, how they are prepared and how to brew them.

We stayed in a very nice guest house for the 4 days. So we had plety of time to visit the town, bike around the lake, and talk with people while drinking tea, wonderful!!

On ne pensait rester qu'un jour ou deux dans la petite ville de Dali, mais finalement on y a passé quatre jours. Dali est une ville ancienne et les premières traces d'habitations remontent à plus de 3000 ans. Elle se trouve à près de 1900m d'altitude au bord du las Erhai et est entourée de montagnes dont les plus hautes atteignent 4000m. Le cadre est juste grandiose et on vous laisse en juger par vous-même en regardant les photos.

Je (Elfi) avais le contact d'un pote de pote (Matthieu), de sa femme (Dorine) et de leur petite fille de quatre mois. Nous les avons rencontré dans un parc de la ville, et c'est là que nous avons bu notre première infusion à la chrysanthème. Ils nous ont parlé de la région et nous ont présenté à leur cercle d'amis. C'est comme cela que nous avons pu avoir une introduction détaillé et fort intéressante à propos des différentes sortes de thé : leur origine, comment ils sont fait et comment les infuser.

Pendant ces quatre jours, on est resté dans une auberge bien sympa avec une cour intérieure. On a eu tout notre temps pour visiter la ville, faire du vélo autour du lac et boire du thé. Vraiment chouette !

we entered this temple randomly at lunch time and we were invited to share their vegetarian meal. It was very good. And people were very kind to us, refilling our bol over and over. //// On est rentré dans ce temple un peu a hasard à l'heure du repas. Du coup on a été invité a partager leur repas végétarien. C'était bien bon et les gens se sont bien occupé de nous, ils n'en finissaient plus de re-remplir notre bol.

Vos photos sont magnifiques mais je suis ?tonn?e de ne pas voir les 3 pagodes.Sinon les montagnes enneig?es, le lac, les maisons richement orn?es et les arbres en fleurs, c'est super .

Et oui les 3 pagodes, on n'a pas eu le temps d'y aller....mais on est pass? devant en v?lo donc on l'a vaguement vue. Enfin bref, on a pr?f?r? boire du th? au soleil :)
