We were in the city for the start of the national holiday week. The Uyghur people have their own square in front of the main mosque and weren't too interested in the official proceedings.

This weekly market is the biggest in Central Asia and farmers from up to 200km away bring their goats, sheep, yaks, mules, donkeys and even camels, in for sale.
