the LAMETAYEL ODAFIM travel store is just 5 minute away from my work and I stop there once in a while to look at stuff and get some inspiration. A year and a half ago I bought a few 2nd hand Lonely Planet books. they sell noodles with Chickpees here! unfortunatly they sell it only as peas and not as real homus

since we were close to the Pakistani boarder we found a good Pakistani restraint. here you can see 1. potato and zukini curry 2. cauliflower curry 3. Chapati (thin bread) 4. Salad 5. (not shown) yogurt. we eat there several times. the best way we found to order something is to say "vegetables not same-same as yesterday" we got a different Delicious dish every time.

but if we can find western food we always like the change and our stomach likes to digest recognizable food.

breakfast is the hardest meal of the day. if we cannot find western food then we usually skip it. in Kashgar we found coffee and Cinnamon roil for Yaron and Muesli with Yogurt for Hagit at Caravan Cafe

the spaghetti like noodles you can get here (and eat in the Tajik Yurt). with vegetables and lamb.

but the BEST food is the one Hagit makes herself. here she is makeing pasta with 3 kinds of mushrooms. (the supermarket had meny kinds of mushrooms for almost free). the geusthouse in Urumqi had a kitchen we could use. we also made a good omlete and salad for breakfest and SHNITZEL with mashed pototos the next day

train stations here are not your ordenary one rail station. they are more like airport terminals with trains leaving on 3 or 4 diffrent levels. this is Urumqi's station. notice the arabic writing next to the chinese

on the way to Kashgar we got 2nd class tickets which are always crowded but managed to change to a small 2 bed private room for free. it was just like 1st class but without the door.

My spontaneous reaction to lake Karakul
"Pi Kus-Emek!" (sorry for the profanity, but it looks like one of the wildest, most beautiful places I've ever heard of. Even compared with the much "nicer" Tian Chi.)
