We are in Shanghai with typhoon Meranti heading our way, but losing it's power. We are scheduled to fly out this afternoon so hopefully we will be out of here before it arrives. If not we will possibly have to stay put until it passes, they definitely won't fly if there is any risk. Will keep you posted about that.
Yesterday we went to the Shanghai Museum which was interesting but an hour and a half was enough. After that we were given time for shopping in Nanjing Road, a pedestrian shopping area in central Shanghai, very westernised with all the big label shops. Then it was on to a silk processing factory similar to silk places we saw in Vietnam, but equally enthralling. Amazing to think that each little pupa spins almost a mile of one single silk thread around itself.
However without doubt, the day's highlight was a Shanghai acrobatic show. People tumbling, flipping, flying through the air at high speed and performing balancing acts that defied logic. There were also some very funny items in between, a great night out. Today is a travel day, so pretty cruisey and time to take a breather from the busy programme. Tomorrow afternoon we board our ship for the four day river cruise which is apparently much more relaxing. Will advise later if we have any changes caused by weather.
