Shanghai has been rainy and delicious so far

Our first Shanghainese cuisine - ji gu jiang. Really tender chicken smothered in something that tastes suspiciously like kecap manis

in the front is a bouquet of flowers and bears

there were swans

... since it was raining we took cover in the famous xiao long bao restaurant (Nan xiang mantou dian)

at the restaurant you sit with various other groups. we met some tourists from Chongqing

... and some from Spain

My friend Carol and her husband Andy took us out to a fabulous Shanghainese restaurant in our neighborhood

we went for lunch at the Taiwanese chain Cha ma te because I thought there would be a lot of veggies - like these veggies with bacon!
