Besides having wireless internet, they also had newspapers in English which I sorely miss and also white people!!! Haha :p
Or until you're eaten alive by mosquitoes ahhhhhhhh!!!

Took a cab back to Huai Hai Lu today since we didn't make much progress yesterday. At Candy's insistence we tried to find our way back to Xin Tian Di, the trendy cafe/bar area to have brunch. I didn't learn the name of the area until after we found it, so I had to trudge around with map in hand asking security guards where the "street with restaurants and no cars" is >.< We settled on a nice little cafe since all food there was whitey food - didn't feel like overpaying for "French" or "Italian" cuisine. It looks like there was wifi there and I was shrieking "Nooo should've brought my PDA/laptop in my bag!" but I got over it eventually :p

After that we walked along Huai Hai Lu in a futile attempt to find the Xiang Yang Market where all the imitation designer stuff and "fashion" clothing is. Unfortunately we headed off in the wrong direction and had to backtrack when we reached the end of the street about five long blocks down in 35 degrees with the sun beating on our backs. So we had to drag

As per Matt's request :p One of the staff at a restaurant we had dinner at... no idea why she was in tight Budweiser clothing when others were in Chinese clothes??
our sweat-soaked selves about 15 blocks the other way with many, many stops at air-conditioned buildings and shops. Eventually we did reach the market and shopped our hearts out until Candy got too many bug bites to bear. I started getting bug bites at home even though we put on Chinese herbal bug-off stuff in the morning - either the scent wore out by afternoon or it just doesn't work. I'll have to see if we can buy an imported "western" brand tomorrow... siiiigh... I'm one big itch and pretty miserable right now 😞 Sleep should help, along with knowing I got good deals - bought three skirts and four tops for about CDN$60! :D

PS: Eunice - there's a lid over the cup which filters the liquid through, for a regular tall glass with the flowers you just... sip and try to not swallow any petals. Naleen - a friend just told me how the shrimp are suffocating in the alcohol so I'd preferred them cooked now! Jen - also going to Hong Kong and Tokyo 😊

Like much of Shanghai, the new is juxtaposed with the old: shops flaunting their wares on the beside a run-down apartment building

Was taking a photo of the poster since the pose is amusing, then Candy joined in and I snapped the photo. Cute!
