Hello all,
Posted are a few pictures from our stay in Xi'an. We will post more later, but the computers are so dang slow! We arrived a few days ago after another 12 hour train ride. This train ride was quite different from the one we took to Beijing. The only seats available were hard seats--meaning we sat in seats that were very hard, didn't recline at all, and personal space was just a nice thought. Either way, we made it!
The following day we went to see the Terracotta Warriors--8,000 clay statues made 2,000 years ago 5m under ground to protect the tomb of an Emporer. Pretty cool.
After the tour we headed to the Muslim quarter where we tested some of the street food. We tried grilled sheep, fresh sugar cane juice, and rice-based deep fried donuts! mmmm....tasty. Later last night we went with a group of people to the Big Goose Pagoda in south Xi'an for a water and lights show. Watch out Vegas! Here comes Xi'an! Also worth mentioning--Nick made a lot of new friends at the show who absolutely loved him!!! The picture is posted.
We are now heading back to Shanghai for a day and then to Hong Kong. We'll add more photos once we find a faster connection. See you soon!
ps. the peace signs. you might be wondering. well, everyone gives the peace sign when having their picture taken here. so, we thought we'd join the group. i think we blend in a bit more. ha!
