Today was a great day to get things done around the house(flat). It has been rainy and cloudy the last 3 days in Shenzhen, so waking up to sunshine was a pleasant surprise. That also meant that Sports Day at school would actually happen and we didn't have to teach today. We text Catherine, Head of English Dept., to verify that Sports Day was happening and no class for us. She text back right away and confirmed we had the day off. We cleaned the house, did laundry, cooked pancakes for breakfast and went grocery shopping.
I decided to teach my extra class on Thursday from 5:20-6pm called English Corner. I started a few weeks ago and each week more and more kids have shown up. Today there were 15 kids, 14 were my students and 1 was Pete's student. One minor thing, the school forgot for the 2nd time to give me a key to the classroom even after reminding them yesterday that I needed it so the students and I just talked outside the classroom about anything they wanted so they could practice speaking English. We talked about Sports Day at school today, the movie 2012 and the
Have you seen these in the USA?
I thought it was a China defect but someone said their friends talk about this coat in the US. East Asian Games.
At 6:10pm I took the night school bus for the teachers to A+ English and taught the very first class of 2 year olds. This is the only class that the parents are in the classroom for the 90 minute lesson. There are 3 girls and 2 boys, one girl didn't show up tonight. Their names are Leo, Ryan, Linda and Kitty. Each of the parents picked out their English name based on the meanings or if they sound similar to their Chinese name. The class started at 7pm and lasted until 8:30pm. WAY TOO late for little ones in my mind and it was confirmed after 8:10 they didn't really want to follow directions anymore. I hope the parents change their mind and do the class from 6:30-8pm. Again they are 2 years old. Two of the girls had their mom and a nanny in the class, shows how much money these people have and drive away in their Mercedes-Benz. I didn't get any pictures tonight but next week I promise. Didn't want to scare the parents off, but the parents LOVE me.
Tomorrow we are headed to Hong Kong(HK) as we don't have
Peek A Boo
Everyone just hit by the blizzard needs one to keep warm from the winds. to teach again due to Sports Day. We will get in some sight seeing and check out a new part of HK that I haven't been to. On Saturday, we will be watching the Men's Soccer(football) finals of the East Asian Games along with 3 other couples from our program. Then we will celebrate Jimmy's birthday for it is on Sunday.
So many birthdays coming up: Mandy 12/11, Jacelyn 12/14, Chase 12/15, Chiymelle 12/17, Britta 12/18, Laura 12/26, Lynae 12/26 and I am sure I am missing a few of the Mosher family cousins as there are too many to remember.
We also got a new class schedule at school as they like to change it about every 3 or 4 week for some reason or another. I get Friday's off YEAH, but Pete teaches one class on Friday so he is trying to switch so we can do 3 day weekend getaways. More vacation just what the doctor ordered.......Does this make anyone want to teach English in China all the vacation we get???
Stay tuned next week as we will post about our fun trip to HK!!!!!!!!!! 15 more days until Christmas.
