SUSIE
Isn't she cute?! Hello everybody!
We had a sleep-in today, not so many exciting things happened today - we just did some laundry and cleaning and stuff in the morning, then tried to work out what to do in the afternoon. There’s a kite shop that I wanted to go and see so I spent about an hour trying to work out the bus system so that I could get there, which I managed to do. I am the Beijing King of Travelling (sorry about that). No problems at all, two subway lines and a bus and we didn’t miss a beat!
Anyways, we ended up at a place called Lotus Lane, which is around a lake and there are a million restaurants and little stalls selling things. It’s ridiculously overpriced, but it’s worth having a look around there, it’s beautiful. You can hire a boat for a little while on the lake too, we might do that if we go back there some other time.
When we first arrived there was a kite that must have been at least 100m long flying in the breeze, it was so awesome. I took a video of it but it was in the
wrong format and I can’t upload it because I haven’t got the right software on my laptop. I’ve changed it over on the camera now so if I find anything else worth videoing I’ll put them on the blog. If I can work out how to change the format I’ll do it too - very frustrating! I got a few photos anyway, so all is not lost
There was also an old guy that was doing water calligraphy - another video gone missing! They’re really clever. I would have been able to stay there forever watching him. When we were finished up there we walked around the lake, and when we got back to where we started it was night-time, and the paved area out the front had been taken over by people playing badminton and hacky-sack! One of the guys came over and threw it to Susie and me. Susie tried to kick the thing when it was thrown to her. She missed the thingo, but luckily was able to hit the nice man with her shoe as it came flying off. Everybody thought it was fantastic. I’m going to buy one of them and get better at
it because I’d love to be able to do that with everybody - they’re so friendly, they just come and invite you to play - and they’re VERY patient!
When we finished up there, we went to get some dinner but got nervous and just had KFC for dinner - not sure what we ordered but it was OK! Then we went home - once again had no problems at all!!! Woohoo!!!
Except when I got home I realized we forgot to go to the kite shop! Oh well.
Hope everybody is well.
