We caught a taxi to the 798 art district from the Sanyuan Bridge train station, it took about 15 minutes.

The 798 district is full of contemporary artwork. We would recommend more research before hand. We did not do much research and found that the map there was not particularly useful and we could not find any information centres. So, we ended up strolling around and tried to catch whatever we could in District D and E.

We visited 3 galleries:
UCCA - a contemporary art centre founded by Guy and Myriam Ullens
Pace Beijing - An exhibition hall where we saw paintings of Yue Minjun's characteristic laughing figures
Baiyaxuan 798 Art Centre - where there was an exhibition of Wu Guanzhong's water paintings.

As we strolled along, we saw many interesting art scupltures and coffee shops. We had a relaxing afternoon (about 3 hours).
