We finally made it to Southeast Asia. It's been a dream for a long time. We have great friends in Singapore, so we stopped there first and then headed out to Cambodia. Our first stop was Phnom Penh, where we stopped at the exquisite Royal Palace and the Silver Pagoda, and then made our way to the rather sobering Choeung Ek, better known as the Killing Fields.
The next day we took off for the ancient ruins of Angkor Wat. All the temples were unbelievably impressive, each outdoing the last in it's beauty and historical significance.
What I loved most about Cambodia was the people. Such elegant, humble and lovely people. So kind. Trying so very hard to improve their situation, which is somewhat dire. They work hard, and take great pride in their country, which has really taken a turn since the Khmer Rouge was toppled. It was a trip to remember.
Take a look at my photos.
