After a long day on the bus we have finally got to Siem Reap. We did have a couple of stops along the way for Happy Loo as our guide calls a toilet stop, lunch and a look at a pepper plantation where we learnt about green, black, red and white pepper. All from the same plant but picked and processed in different ways.
We also stopped at a local village where we visited a stone carving place where apprentices are trained - some amazing, intricate work. And then a skin carving place which had us all worried until we realised it was cow skin - leather carving. It was run by a man who had set up an orphanage for local kids.
We had our first glimpse of some of the wats before heading to the food markets for some entrees before dinner. This included frogs, quails, fish and mushrooms steamed in banana leaf and snails. We then headed into the city on tuktuks for dinner. The central pub area was really rocking, New Year's Eve is going to be very busy to say the least!
