I really enjoyed Kampot and met some lovely people here, and is famous for it's 'Kampot Pepper' which is a must try. I get booked into the Cozy Elephant but there's a huge wedding on outside which means I actually take my bike through the wedding Marquee. There are around 2000 guests expected in the evening and no doubt the music will be pumping away until late.
Anyway I head out for ‘ribs' at one of the western restaurants as they're meant to be amazing, and to be honest they didn't disappoint, BBQd in their own sauce and the place is jumping. I joined Kenny, Rosie, Ian and Andy for dinner and we hung around together for my time in Kampot. We found live music was on in a big stage in the centre of town so everyone headed to watch, and I found it strange how the Cambodian's are enjoying but they don't respond, the crowd remain very quiet throughout the whole performance, no applauds at the end either. We go on to visit another few bars and one is right on the river, we end up sitting on a pontoon watching the stars and I decide to stay here the next day, nice.
Motorbikes are hired the following day for a ride out to Bokor Hill Station which is meant to be the best road in Cambodia. It's very smooth and is great fun with everyone racing and tearing up the road… haha, greats views out to sea and the islands and the salt flats makes for a really memorable day. The rich and famous used to live up on the hill like Cambodia's Hollywood, and Kenny shows us many derelict mansions with the most amazing views, again apparently the Khmer Rouge has left it's mark. The rain stars slightly and wee head to the Casino for lunch, I never thought I would be sitting in a posh casino in Cambodia looking out to rain, that's for sure. After lunch thankfully it dried up and we go onto the waterfall although it's not if full flow, the rocks are amazing and we walk down as far as we can go before heading back down the mountain in search of the salt flats.
This was funny we ended up we couldn't find the road to the salt flats but we ended up finding the most colorful temples and gardens that I

Haha, with the happy couple had ever seen... wow what a find. We then went through small villages before ending up at one of the community harbours, you could tell they don't often get tourist here, we were the talk of the place. Once we were back we all had dinner, couple of beers and said our good nights and arranged to meet for breakfast in the morning before I head off to Sihanouk Ville. However I got up early and although I had decided to skip breakfast I met Kenny who had come to pay his bills so we sat a chatted and had coffee before I left, he's a lovely young guy who I will see again in Phnom Penh.
Onto more adventures along the road 😊
