We had a bit of a flying visit to Cambodia's capital Phnom Phen but from what we saw I really liked the city, it was far more developed and less busy than I was expecting! We did a day trip starting at the killing fields where so many Cambodians were killed during Pol Pot's reign. It was devastating to see and hear about exactly what happened there but it was very interesting. After that we went to the S-21 prison where Cambodians had been held and tortured before being taken to the killing fields. It was again very depressing but worth going to see and taking in all of the information about what happened. We booked a VIP sleeper bus for that evening to head up to siem reap. It turned out to be a seating bus that left at the wrong time, complete with a crying baby and 2 men who seemed to produce the loudest snoring I have ever heard. Something went wrong with every bus trip we had in Cambodia but we managed to laugh these situations off! "You have to laugh else you will cry!"
