The first of the third month traveling seems to be a fitting day to wake up in Kabul. This city is surreal in any sense, tensions are always high, foreigners are rarely ever seen and we've become quite the tourist attraction for the locals. The hotel we stayed in was an absolute disaster, though not many accomadations in Kabul went for less than 10$ usd a night. The day started out with some breakfast of a mystery fried bread and milk tea. The owners of the restaurant are extremely polite to us and very friendly. We start to get the impression that with Chris's camera equipment that everyone is seeing us as journo's.
After breaki its off to the embassy quarter of Kabul to find the Pakistan embassy and see about getting a re-entry visa. We hope its just as simple as the authorities in Pakistan mentioned. Though due to a local holiday the embassy is closed and we spend checking out the embassy area and being invited for tea by some canadian security forces. It was then off to the old part of Kabul and after attempting to climb the television mountain we are told that we should leave before we're stabbed......at least they look after foreigners
On the way back to the Hotel we stumble into an illegal gambling/chicken fighting den were we get threatened once again, though some of the guys really wanted us to join in the betting.

After a quick nap and going for a mango shake on the street it was off to internet cafe in Chicken street which was a foreign mecca of shops filled with carpets and antique weapons for the occasional foreigner. After tracking down the Mustafa hotel and finding that beer has been outlawed by the new ministry of vice and virtue its off to another guesthouse compound for beer and scotch for 4usd a piece. It's been an interesting first day in Kabul .
