Heading into Botswana seemed very different with the vegetation turning greener and with cattle being allowed to freely roam. At times cows had right of way over vehicles and some of their roads, such as elephant highway, meant you would come across these beasts walking across the road in front of you. We flew over the Okavango Delta to see the size of the delta and the expanse of land it was. The delta is approx. 15000km2 and boasts elephants, giraffes, zebras and lions to name a few. The flight was in a 6 seater plane which didn’t go above 5000ft which didn’t help with the turbulence. Although great views you need a stomach of steel to do it or at least lots of travel pills. So I travelled with John, a friend from Ireland who I met in Lilongwe from Lusaka to Livingstone, which took approximately 8 hours on a comfortable "luxury" bus. Now I've been on a number of buses which class their service as luxurious and of a high quality, but it more often than not, is anything but. However, the Mazhandu bus we caught was just like a Western bus and made for an enjoyable journey, especially as John and I booked the front two seats meaning we had more leg room and a decent view. Vic Falls - Wow!! Victoria Falls is an unbelievable sight, the power and size of the river is extremely impressive. Days 15 - 22 River cruise in Botswana, the famous Victoria Falls, sunset cruise & walking with lions in Zambia & game watching in our campsite Hey guys, we have had some long bus days, with plenty of time to kill, and needless to say, this is quite a long detailed one. Just thought I would give you the heads up so you can go and grab a cuppa before starting. Saying goodbye to Kruger NP meant saying goodbye to South Africa. Botswana was our next port of call. We were told to watch out for wild animals, as here they were not fenced in and were free to roam as they pleased.
