Arusha had it's Ladies Seminar, We had one man baptized through the House to Housestudies that the men were doing, Brent drove to Kenya to sign papers for the container, and the kids and I went to our first ever Rugby game What a day! The ladies seminar went great! We had about 42 ladies there, studying about women's roles in the church, and it was wonderful! Desdery (one of our local evangelissts) and Stephanie did a great job of setting it all up. Then Desdery, Stephanie, Neema, Shasta, Grace, and myself all taught different lessons throughout the day covering a variety of topics. From 9 am until 3:30 in the afternoon.
The youth of the congregation volunteered to cook lunch for the ladies and did a wonderful job... It was just fun to see all those young men back there peeling potatoes and squatting over the fires out back behind the church building!
Then the rest of the men all got together and did House to House studies trying to bring back wayward members of the church with great success, from one of the studies with David Bayi, a man obeyed the gospel and was brought
ladies with Bibles!
Great to see at the ladies seminar!
They are about 6$ each here and many ladies will not have one, for their husbands carrying around the family bible. to the church building and was baptized there during our lunch break. It had been a great day already but that made it even even better!
Brent got a call saying he and Elly needed to run to the Kenyan border to sign papers for the container to cross over from Kenya into Tanzania.... The driver is supposed to be leaving Mombassa soon and head this way.. brent says maybe Thursday on it's arrival here at the house (we'll see!) it is still Tanzania!
Brent also brought home two guard dogs this weekend. He found two german sheppards, one male named Xander, and a female named Fanya. The kids were so excited! They had given up their german sheppard at home to come to Africa in the first place.. So the house was a buzz with excitment! both are about 9 months old.
Then while brent was gone the kids and I went to a free rugby match just outside of town between the Tanzaniana team and some foreign visitors... We had a great time! it was my first rugby experience, over all I learned you can't toss the ball backwards, theres two poles on the end
you are trying to get the ball through, you throw people up into the air to catch the ball, you can kick the ball at will, and other than that it looks like anything goes.. a very rough game... But the kids loved it! They got an ice cream and a coke, and watched the game and then Garrett of course where there are kids and balls together got a soccer game going off behind the bleachers with some other kids there and had his own fun... Why watch the game when you can play your own I guess....
We have two visitors here this week, Jeff Wilder and Roger Shepperd with us, and they had dinner here at the house Friday night. I was excited to get to make my first homemade apple pie, that actually turned out so made it even better!
It was a busy fun Saturday! And we're up and ready to have a great Lord's day here at Arusha. To complete the weekend!
Sunday morning at Arusha, some women from the seminar met early before class to have a prayer together and be early to greet visitors, then Evance Minja lead
our adult Bible class and Anthony Brown preached a wonderful lesson! The hand -shaking circle around the church yard made a complete circle around the yard this morning and began to go around again! (it was a great morning!).. Many people there this morning... One woman named Christina was baptised and one man named Wilson asked for Forgivness of sins in his life... And thats just here in Arusha... Cy & our visitors went to Moshi this morning for jeff to preach there,
We love and miss you all!
In His Service,
Julie Richardson
