the medical "camp": a three room little shack where university students quickly evaluate patients most with minor pains, some with malaria, others stds, some with vitamin definincies, then tell us what medicine to give them. we find and count the medicine, give it to the translator who tells them how to take the medicine. its designed for women and children but lots of men came this time apparently. this took place maybe 40 min from dar (20 min from bagamoyo) and is done about twice per month on saturdays.

bagamoyo-a nice small town with lots of history as it use to be the capital during german rule. never as grand as the cities on zanzibar and only having a brief period of importance, only a few historical buildings remain. the first church in east africa is located here, mosque remains dating from the 13th century, the place where david livingstons body was transported to before going to zanzibar and then to london. slaves came from the interior to here before going to zanzibar or the middle east and the city name means something like lost hope. very nice beaches here (one more day spent on the beach) would have been nice with shallow and clear water. we spent the day wandering around the town, to the beach, the old mission station (now a musuem), then taking a taxi to a crocodile farm and then to the mosque remains. the return trip only took about an hour and cost 1,200 shillings (1 dollar)

that was my weekend. thats all for now.
