Woke at 0600 today, birds singing in another beautiful day. Aunty Pauline, provided an amazing breakfast: starting with yoghurt, a variety of fruits and Pronutro cereal and completed with a choice of scrambled eggs, bacon, borewors, and potato squares. So much choice. Absolutely brilliant start to another busy day. A visit to Mooinooi was our intention today. I was overcome with emotion when we reached the house, now 33 Karee st. not 183 as it was back then. I remembered it clearly despite the changes so evident now. Back then the grounds seemed so much larger than I found them today. Now our family home is overrun with scrap and pawned items. Ailine and my bedroom wall, backing on the lounge, has been opened up and is now an office, the kitchen seems unchanged, but there ... read more

On 04 October 2012 Our way to Gold Reef City…………… We all arrived at Varsity College in the morning. Me (sosi) and my four group members (Londi, Sekgatle, Ayanda and Felicia) had to discuss significant issues including finance, transport and the duties of who’s doing what, where and when before our departure time. The entire group had agreed to these arrangements that Kim and Tsego were going to be the transport service of picking up and dropping of students at Varsity College. The two cars had a convoy to the garage station to fill up petrol in their cars. Once done we drove past Menlyn Mall heading to the N1 highway to Johannesburg. Apon arrival, knowing that gold reef city attracts one with multitude of places to see and things to do. This is one of ... read more

05/07/2010 In the early hours of the morning as a family, we drove to hartebeespoort dam. Apon arrival at the popular destination we grabed our camping chairs for fun and relaxation. even though the weather was not nice, we still relaxed on our chairs to view the gorgeous typography i.e. scenery and landscape. The dam was built in 1923 for supplying irrigation water to farmlands that still today grow fruits, flowers, tobacco, wheat and lucerne. The water gets channeled through long canals that are all networked together. The town of Hartbeespoort sits close by the dam wall and small towns are dotted along the dam’s banks. Hartebeespoort dam was the one place i wished to visit because it was just a few km away where I lived. The day we went i had the most amazing ... read more

on 01 January 2011 My famliy and I decided to leave early in the morning like we always do reminding ourselves about a memorable day of exploring and enjoying the leisure trip. Leaving Soweto early we travel north to Johannesburg. which took us about 30-40 minutes to get there. GRC....... Johannesburg’s Apartheid Museum, the first of its kind, illustrates the rise and fall of apartheid. An architectural consortium, comprising several leading architectural firms, conceptualised the design of the building on a seven-hectare stand. The museum is a superb example of design, space and landscape offering the international community a unique South African experience.Apon arrival we could hear people screaming their lungs out and knew we've come to the right place where the fun games have begun. As we entered the main gates, right into the first ... read more

Class Tour 2011 The whole class met at Varsity College Pretoria, where we left with a bus, arrangments done by Kim Du plessis our Travel & Tourism Lecturer. This was a half-day Tour into the City of Gold where SAB is situated. As we arrived at the South African Bereweries the thought of us student being drunk came to mind but me thinking of that I was totally wrong as my class students behaved in a tolerated manner and they were very mature. We were capturing pictures for memories and while we were still outside waiting for the first tour group to finish thier tour and while the gastronomy was still being prepared for us. Once the first group was finished, our tour started as we explored history about alcohol; who discovered which herb and how ... read more

Every year my family and I including a few friends organise a trip to another province. So one year we decided on going to Cape Town, it was the best decision we made because I dont regret anything. Even though it felt like we were on the road for days, we all got excited when we got there. The hotel we booked at was amazing and the staff members made us feel at home, I wouldn't mind staing there for the rest of my life. So as we got there, we went to so many places and the one I liked the most is visiting the Robben Island. I was excited about getting on the ferry to get to Robben Island as we went there the ride was okay but coming back it was as if ... read more
