Our way to Gold Reef City……………
We all arrived at Varsity College in the morning. Me (sosi) and my four group members (Londi, Sekgatle, Ayanda and Felicia) had to discuss significant issues including finance, transport and the duties of who’s doing what, where and when before our departure time. The entire group had agreed to these arrangements that Kim and Tsego were going to be the transport service of picking up and dropping of students at Varsity College. The two cars had a convoy to the garage station to fill up petrol in their cars. Once done we drove past Menlyn Mall heading to the N1 highway to Johannesburg.
Apon arrival, knowing that gold reef city attracts one with multitude of places to see and things to do. This is one of the reasons so many of us (visitors) are repeat visitors at GRC.........
We knew that we had come to the right place at the right season as all of us were looking for something more 'upbeat & adrenalin'. Which of course are the thrilling and most exciting and irresistible games. When Kim and Tsego parked their cars in the parking bay,
THE ANACONDA was the first thriller ride we saw and even heard people figuratively screaming their lungs out oh!.................mama ho!.................................. the adrenalin energy pumped inside our bodies. We quickly ran like crazy chickens to go purchase our tickets for entrance. We were so disappointed to see such a long queue full of school children, and then we were reminded that it was public holidays for them. After purchasing the entrance tickets, we were then allowed inside. All of us walked through the theme park taking visuals of ourselves and the vintage/ ancient houses build in at Gold Reef City. The first thriller ride that student engaged on was the TOWER OF TERROR!!! Like I said (in my latest update gold reef city blog) not in a million years will I ever ride on the game ever! I really kept my word. Felicia Sekgatle and I (Sosi) decided to take a ride on the GIANT WHEEL, which was very big but not thrilling like the others. Kim our lecturer sat on the bench capturing pictures of us on the ride as she didn’t want to take part in test driving the games and she felt very scared of heights. Tsego, Londi,
GOLD REEF CITY
Ayanda, Lungi and Londi’s Cousin after engaging on the “TOWER OF TERROR” where one feels as if the heart-stops at a speed of 100km p/h and goes straight into an open mine shaft. A fear factor game rated 10/10 shocked the five students, when ours were shaking and pinching them and some trying to calm them as their heart beating was too fast and strong.
We felt that the day was young and that we need to rock and roll in most of the games before sunset. We moved from the first section to another section of games, we then stopped at the GOLDEN LOOP a ride that will blow your mind! The passages had a signpost that says beware! What goes up must come down! Just as we were getting excited a student finger pointed another signpost that read, the ride is unavailable during this course of visit due to routine maintenance or mechanical glitches, but this signpost never stopped us from looking into another sections of games after walking a short distance we found much more wowza and thriller games and we enjoyed ourselves on the VINTAGE CARS, UFO, MINER’S REVENGE and THE DREAM BOAT. The games
were really outstanding as most of the people shouted …..We want more!!!
After exploring the wilderness, walking towards JOZI EXPRESS assuming we would have a chance to take a peak on the expansive view of Jozi CBD, the lines were ridiculous because we had to keep track of time. We then headed to the last section of the other games and we decided to save the best for last which was THE ANACONDA calling the adrenalin junkies to take a seat and prepare to curl like giant snakes, roar like frightened lions and to sweat like rabbits. Once done most of the students and the lecturer were dying of hunger and they decided to grab a heavy afternoon meal. While they were eating Londi, SK and I (Sosi) sneaked away from the group having meals to experience one last memorable game that will make us wet and refreshed was the RANGING RIVER RAPIDS as it flows downs along the scenic river that encounters caves of old waterfalls. Once done we knew the journey had come to an end, we then met up with the rest of the entire group for snacks, beverages, and relaxation just capturing pictures. We the
visitors invariably left gold reef city feeling rejuvenated, fulfilled and eager to return to enjoy the exciting games and warm hospitality that makes it so special.
WHAT A REMARKABLE AND FUN-FILLED DAY…!!!
GOLD REEF CITY REALLY OUTSTANDING…..!!!
